I just wanted to know if anyone can help me find a good cam for a 2001 Pontiac Trans Am WS6. I want a good idle sound and performance doesn't have to be top notch. Im looking for around 20 Hp gain. Do they have any for under $320.00??? and how much do you think it will cost for installation? If anyone can give me some examples I would really appriciate it!!! thanks

around here theyre throwin in the thunder racing 224/224 cam, look at www.thunderracing.com , installation is easier than a traditional SBC, but you have to take out the radiator and such to slide the cam out, try to find a 4th gen F body dedicated installation shop, and with bolt ons, headers, and that cam, people around here are dynoing around 380-390 to the wheels

for 320 you can easily get a cam you could get a good cam for half that...

but it all depends if you want a roller solid or flat tappet

but a 224/224 wouldnt be to bad unless it has a lift of over .490 in which then you would need some more mods for it to add more power

but if your on a cam now im assuming you already have headers done and maybe someother parts too and a cam with headers will give you at least 60hp

but just doing a cam will give you over a 20hp increase

anyway good luck with finding a cam

youre forgetting he has a LS1 which is nothing like a traditional SBC,theyre hydrolic roller cam motors, the stock cam has .500 lift, and and around 208/218 @ 50 duration, and 1.7 rockers. the cam i spoke of in the earlier post has around 540/540 lift, that cam is concidered a little above mild but nothing drastic, he would need springs and retainers, i think the 918 springs are good. look em up in the thunderracing site

oh yah god damn new motors and their stock roller cams...

well then a 224-230 duration should be decent with maybe a .510 lift maybe a bit more if you want a lopey idel
