It all depends on what you want. I have a te-60 from precision turbo&engine, It cost me $675.00. Here is a link to the diffrent turbos and the prices that they are over here from Precision turbo and engine.

Well I'm looking to put a turbo on a LT1 for my Uterus...
How hard is it to get all the stuff to make it work?

getting a turbo and the wastegate would not be a problem I would suggest a big shaft turbo. With a bigshaft turbo you do not need a blowoff valve, the shaft and bearings won't even notice the compressor surge. The LT1 is prettymuch a bullet proof block. it would be wise to drop your compression to about 8-8.5to 1, and maybe a cam that is ground for a turbo engine. Your biggest challenge is getting the piping for the exaust and the compressed air circuit. I would suggest intercooling it and perhaps alcohol injection. seeing that your doing this to a truck you should have plenty of engine room. BTW what kind of truck is that?? how much boost do you want to run??

The truck ( more like an El Camino) is a Holden Ute
We call em utes or uterus they bot carry stuff you know...
Anyway going to leave the uterus and LT1 pretty stock was going to drop compression a bit. looking to get about 10 psi of boost nothing to extreme. it is my daily and just like that free horsepower idea esp when already rolling..
Not looking to be the fastest just hold my own and get great dependability til I get myself a real job

"looking to get about 10 psi of boost nothing to extreme"
Yeah, I don't want too much money for christmas, around 3 million should do it.
Expect to get about 60% power gain with 10PSI heh.

y not 10psi? they got internally stock impala ss's w/ LT1s running 12psi, and getting in the 12's too. vlad, are u thinking of twin or single turbo setup? i'd suggest a twin setup for any v-8, one turbo on each exhaust manifold.

id go single if you just want to run 10 psi, wicked crazy spool up plus the twin setup is another 700 bucks at least. and I would look into a TE-44 if you want to run 10PSI. I got the compressor map somewhere on this damn computer I just need to find them. I had a TE-44 on my GN and I still have it. I upgraded to a TE-60 but im thinking about going back to the 44. It is such a street friendly turbo that is hard to resist. go to turbonetics website. they have two types of ADJ. wastegates. The deltagate and the race gate. I run the Deltagate and it is nice because you run vacume lines into the cab of your truck and hook it up to a regualtor. your boost is adjustable from inside the cab. If you drop the compression that block will handle more than 12 PSI. the trick to running high boost levels and doing it safely is to figure out a way to watch your knock sensor. pre-deationation is the number one killer for all forced induction engines. If you are going to run pump gas only then I would extremely reccomend an alcohol injection kit, just some added insurance for the headgaskets.
Don't worry about how much max boost you want to run. The beauity behind a turbo is that with a twist of a dial your boost is different. you just want to have a range so yo can pick the most effecient turbo.

alcohol injection is a kit that injects atomized denatured alcohol into your compressed air charge when under boost. Have you eve spilled alcohol on your hand and you hand got real cold? it's the same theroy when the alky hits the hot air it vaporizes sucking heat out of the charge air. plus alky is rich in octane. with my car on 93 octane pump gas I can run 17 PSI without alcohol and without knock. when the alky kit is turned on I can run 24+ lbs of boost with the same pump gas without knock. I think that figures up to about 100 HP just because of the alky. also my sugestion for the tubo size I think might be wrong. a 44 might be a tad too small for a lt1, I have ti start thinking like a mid american redneck with his 350 chevy and not like a civilized person with his big comfortable buick :p . Ill have to look at some compressor maps to tell though.

Why do you want to use turbos on it? Turbos are problematic. You have to let them cool down, prime the oil filter, watch the temp, and they still aren't reliable. Go with a supercharger and intercooler.... you will see far more hp gains then with the turbos and you won't have the fuss either.
Vlad_Tepes

The main reason is that the superchargers are on all the time.
Mine is more of a daily driver and want just a hella passing gear.

Superchargers don't take up any more fuel economy then normal unless you jump on it. Pretty much as a turbo. Both are being used at all times. Think about it, the supercharger is being turned by your engine, the turbo is being turned by your exhaust. Both are always on, but they don't kick in till you step on the gas. If you want to go with turbos, then go for it, just remember, i already warned you.

Turbos are not the problem it is idoits who put them on and don't know what they are doing that blow them up. A turbo is way more efficent than any supercharger. it take a hell of a lot of horsepower to make 20 PSI out of a supercharger then it does a turbo. Before you go on to say that if turbos are so good then why don't the funny cars and dragsters use them. Well to thell you the truth they are not allowed to. It takes over 1000 HP for a funny car to turn that blower fast enough to make the kind of boost levels that they run. for a set of two big turbos it would take maybe at the most 20 HP. Thats another 980 HP and even more torque!! They could not hold that, They barely hold on to what they got now, and they could have thoes turbos spinning and ready to go just as fast as a supercharger. Turbos are not the problem, all you need to do is to do your reasearch and have a little knowledge on the subject.
P.S. did you ever get that website to work???
