I have a 98 GST and im trying to swap the engine with somthing rare. Im not sure what the cyclone engine is but ive heard a lot about it. What is the big differences between the regular 4g63 and a cyclone motor. And are they 6 bolt motors as well? :smokin:

The intake manifold
has some butterfly thingy thats gives it lil more low end tq

The name is the biggest difference. Not much performance difference, but if be different is important go for it. COmpression i a touch higher. Thats it. The manifold is useless without all of the vacuum parts that go with it, and the JDM ECU that knows how to contorl it, as well as all th wiring in between. Good boost in midrange, and a restriction at high power levels.

thanx, but i also had a question about the evo motor swap. If only the 1-3 evo motors will fit in my car, are they 6bolt, and also i was wondering if they come with a larger turbo and injectors.

I believe the 1-3 are all 6 bolts but I never paid much attention to the JDM craze. They CAN come with a 16g and 510cc injectors, but theres no garantee, it depends where you buy it etc.

well a littel more about the cyclone it will creat 214hp at 5,000rpms and 225 tourc at 3,000 rmps so you can see it is a tour engine which will win you more races then an engine with less tourc. the engine also came with three diffrent turbos the 14 b the 16g ang the big 16g the all had diffrent enkectors on them also. so i think that is one of the resons to get a cyclone is to go for the big 16g

Hey, thanx guys youve been a lot of help. If you know anywhere that i can buy a cyclone engine or a 6 bolt please let me know.

The cyclone motor is hardly different from the 6 bolt, except for the manifold (which is way more trouble than its worth to get working properly) and the compression. BTW, I said all this above :) Put the same turbo and injectors and ECU on an american spec 4g63, and power will be nearly identical.
Also, torque doesnt win races, HP does. If anyone wants to argue that, please start a new thread so as to not hijack this one... Because if I know me, it will get LONG and UGLY

No. The cyclone name implies that the motor came out of some jdm car. I dont know which one, and I dont care to find out. I'd assume the GVR4 type cars. People also want the intake manifold off that motor, but as I've said before its not worth the trouble. The compression ratio may be different as well, like the EVO motors. No US spec 4g63 in any configuration was ever called by the name cyclone.
