Ok Maybe someone here can help me. I bought this 1995 GMC Jimmy a yr ago WHen at a stop light or sign it idle very bad (Like a Tank) but runs fine when out on the freeway, We have done mager tune-up, EGR value, Oxygen senor, cleaned spider out, Iac,Cat vonvert, map senor, fuel filter, air filter,Ran K-44 thru it,and we may have done a little more but we have tried so many things it hard to remiember. But if anyone has i idea plz let me know.

On that model engine, 2 things come to mind right off the bat, EGR and CPI....I would look at those 2 again.
Also check for vacum leaks and you maywant to do a compression test to rule out an internal engine problem

I also have a 95 Jimmy and I had this problem, I spent a lot of money on new parts then found that the problem is carbon stuck in the EGR VALVE. take the EGR valve of yourself, it takes approx 20 mins, you can just about wiggle it around the other stuff in the way. once of check it if there is carbon stuck in it bingo. you can get a special gasket from www.tomco.com to stop carbon getting in. I did mine one year ago and never had that problem again.

i have a 94 gmc jimmy and i have the same exact problem. i was told by many mechanics that it is the egr valve sticking open due to carbon build up.

Thank you all for your help after talking to GMC a few days ago and you guys helping me we have come up with it the CPI (Multi port injectors) like we all know it couldnt be the one that cost 111.00 it has to be the one that cost $400.00 I think we for got to add that the EGR value has been changed 3 times the last time 2 weeks ago and the last week it has not moved it been sitting in the drive way cuz I'm to scared to drive it the GMC guy said it could catch on fire and besides it idle at a stop about shakes you to death we are going to do the compression test first to make sure but the gas smell i guess it making everyone think the CPI (Multi Port injectors) I want to think you all again for your help hope i can return the favor sometime
