Best headlight bulbs?

I know this has been asked a million times, I searched, but none of them fully answered my question. I've seen some non-HID bulbs out there that look VERY nicely colored, I never would have known they were not HID if I hadn't seen the cars, but damn, they looked good. Anyone know what is THE absolute best colored bulb out there? I know there are a lot of posers out there, I bought some Eurolite Xenon Plasma bulbs, and yuck! All they do is take the yellow out of the OEM lights, so what a waste of $20 :banghead: I've also read Sylvania is good, but how blueish white are they? Would they look good on the Integra projectors? What about those 5000+k lights off ebay? I'm a bit skeptical about buying one of those, something doesn't sound right about them. They say the glass is made of a quartz-type glass so it doesn't get too hot, but I don't want to melt my housings. Anyone have any suggestions? What do you use, do they look good?

PIAA would probably what you are looking for. The Super Plasma GT-X bulbs are supposed to be quite nice to my understanding. I currently run Sylvania SilverStar bulbs and I couldn't be any more pleased with them. Hands down the best bulbs ever!

Hey SilverY2K, how long have you had your SilverStar bulbs? I've bought colored (HID Look) bulbs before but since the gas in them burns hotter than a regular bulb they always burn out way too quick. I saw the SilverStar bulbs and thought about trying them but I didn't want to waste my money if they were going to burn out in a month or two. Also do they have any coloration or are they just a really pure white?

Thanks! :)

Because they are stock wattage and Sylvania (leading manufacture of OEM replacement bulbs) they should last as long as the buls that came in your car from the factory. The S/S's also have a limited lifetime warranty on them. ;)

IntegraBoy2003: I haven't seen them any cheaper than $109 for a pair. :eek7:

How's the color on the S/S's though? Is a blue that you can acutally notice from a distance or just "lightly tinted"? Is the color exactly like the one on the picture or is it just pure white? Because the $20 Eurolite Super Plasma ones I have now are plain white, so besides long lasting, no difference.

i use to have a pair of 4500k from piaa on my old acura, they were bright white,

to break it down

3200k is halogen

5000k would be plasma blue

and 5200k would be sunlight

check this out though it should help u http://www.piaa.com/Bulbs/BulbsAbout.html

They are pure white. You can notice them definitely from a distance compared to factory bulbs due to their brightness, and more pure white color, but they don't really have any blue or purple tint to them. With mine, the high beam of them seems to have a little more bluish tint to them than when you run the low beam part of them.

All in all, who cares about color? You just want a brighter bulb that's gonna last as long as a factory bulb and doesn't cost an arm and a leg for it, but is noticably differant. IMO, blue tint (Like Eurolite, or Hiper Ind. bulbs) or anyother hyperwhite headlight bulb, is :gay: :loser: not to mention any bulb like that, unless high wattage, has REDUCED light output than a normal halogen bulb. Which brings you back to, high wattage bulbs will ALWAYS blow out within a year or even months. ;)

Buy some PIAA's for around $80 (1-year warranty) if you want a bluish tint, or the Sylvania's for like $100 for a bright white color. I've seen both, both look good, but it just depends on what you want. I had PIAA's in my stock headlights and they matched the color of my PIAA turn signals perfectly.

OMG, Where are you getting SYlvanias from? They should run you no more than $25 per bulb, so $39 - $49 for a pair!

IntegraBoy2003 That's an excellent price for those bulbs!

I got my bulbs from www.sylvania.com I have Halo Projector Headlamps, so I couldnt buy the stock 9003 for the low beam, I went with the SilverStar H1. To my knowledge they are the brightest lights on the market. Exact product is H1 ST High Performance Halogen Capsule- Price for two bulbs $47.68

I'm not sure. I know most PIAA bulbs are DOT legal, not sure about the Super Plasmas though. You should be alright though I think.

And what wattage are your hyperwhites, because I can almost bet they aren't stock wattage. ;)

SilverStars for me are everything they said they should be, and more! It could just be your headlight housing, because mine work perfect for me. But they have a satisfaction guarantee on SilverStars I believe, for if you don't like them.

I hear a lot about the Silverstars and they are very good bulbs for the money. One thing I did notice is the GE Superblue bulbs are just like the S/S at a fraction of the cost. I bought a pair from Wal-Mart for $17.88 and then a pair of S/S and let me tell you, I can't tell the difference. Maybe it's my eyes, but I highly recommend them. Good thing about Wal-Mart is that you can buy both pairs at the same time and compare them to decide which ones to get. I just thought I'd give that lil bit of info for those who are curious about the S/S, but can save a little $$ on the GE's.

First, just try and check the thread dates beofre you post. This thread was dead for almost 8 months before it was brought back, so it was kind of old. A lot of us have made this mistake before, but try and check the thread dates befoe you post, and try to avoid posting in dead threads when possible.

Also, if you are interested in headlight bulb and want to learn more.
