ITR suspension?!

Some days ago Iīve met a guy from austria (who seemed to be deeply in the Honda scene) in the net and he told me that I shoudlnīt buy a coilover system for my future ITR if Iīm not lowering it more than 1,6 inch (=4cm???) because it would be fine with the stock struts then! He also said that I wouldnīt reach the performance of the stock suspension because I wouldnīt be able to adjust it that professionally and I think that heīs very right with that! What do you guys think about that? My goal was to get these ugly gap between the tires and the wheel-wells away (on stock rims/tires)! So what would you do?? Any ideas would be damn nice because I really donīt want to think about suspension problems anymore! Thanx in advance!

imo the stock struts can handle 4 cm... only if you keep the bumpstop in his original position.
I've also asked a sort-like question to koni... the dutch koni supplier said I could better not combine eibach lowering with the 15 mm lowering the yellow koni struts can do because ir would go beyond their maximum... and the german koni supplier said it wasn't a problem at all... so even they don't know!!!
I also think you can't really do anything with a adjustable coilover system... your car should be realignned when you lower/raise it...(or you should have a standard high where you regularly drive on, but do you change your ride height every weekend?? imo you change it once or twice and then you keep it that way.
I also saw some pictures a while ago of a itr... totally standard, only new rims an extreme lowered... it looks very nice!
What kind of suspension troubles did you have? (because i was also thinking about combining my eibachs with some koni yellows)

15mm lowering with Koni yellows?? You should be able to lower it at least 30mm on Koni yellows!! I would trust the german one (not because Iīm german myself) because Koni is a german brand, isnīt it!? Iīve never heard of anything like that!!
The alignment wonīt be a problem because Iīm going to buy a camber-kit anyways! The reason why I wanted to buy a coilover system is because I dunno how low I have to go so that the gaps between the tires and wheel-wells will be away. There seems to be nobody in here who has got an idea about that! I need some serious help!
Why should Eibach springs go beyond the max of Koni yellows????

I can't really add anything usefull to this thread because I don't know the ITR and Koni that well but there's one little thing..

Maybe this will help. These are pics of the F&F Teg. This car is lowered 5cm with 17" rims (don't know the tyre size). I wouldn't go with the coilovers and just use the Koni's.

edit: fixed the link

http://community.webshots.com/uploads/25979123.jpg?7629 I canīt see the pic! Sorry!:)
He said that I should keep the stock struts and just put some good new springs on. That would be the best! I dunno, but Iīd guess heīs right because he wouldnīt spend thousands of $ on the engine while his suspension is shit. He said that he knows some guys from the states who are into racing and heīs driving 1/4 mile races in austria, too. Heīs right with the adjustement of the coilover system, too. I canīt adjust it so that itīll be better than stock! It would take weeks or even months to adjust it perfectly because I would have to test it in any extreme situation! So I will try it with springs at first and if I donīt like it I still can buy new struts or even a coilover system.
But on other cars coilover systems are good normally!!

lowering depends on the car... my car can only be lowered 15 mm (or raised 15 mm :) )
Like already said...koni is dutch :D
I thinks it would go beyond max because the koni's are made for 15mm lowering only... not 15 + 35... but I don't get it myself 2... when the bumpstops are all right, the mustn't be any problem...

Yea, I know! Koni is dutch!!:finger: ;) But I really donīt get it. You can only lower your car for 15mm with Koni YELLOWS??? My brochure says said you can lower your car for aditionally 30mm with just the Koni yellows! Maybe youīve got another version of Koni yellows than me.... :D
