My Service Engine Soon Light Is On And Will Not Go Away. I Reset The Computer, And It Is Still There. Where Do I Need To Go And What Do I Need To Do.

The PCM has seen a problem with the emissions system or a related componant and has set a code and turned on the SES light.
What year, make and model is your vehicle? This will help in determining if your vehicle is still under warranty or not.
If your vehicle is not under warranty, you can go to Autozone or some other parts store and have them pull the code for you or you can purchase a code reader and do it yourself...the code or codes will give you an indication on what is going on and start the diagnostic process

You are correct, AutoZone will do the diagnostics for free and might even offer some advice.

AutoZone can test but they arn't always the most helpful...

Ihave a 99 Jimmy that had the SES light come on today, brought it in there they got the code but couldn't tell me what it was for sure, the code is P0446

They had me check the gas cap but that was it, and I'm not really sure they knew how to reset it cause the light is still on... Does anyone here have any idea what the problem could be?

The only thing I could find on the internet was:

DTC P0446 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent System Performance

I'm not sure where to go from here. I hope someone else can lend a hand.

The P0446 is the code that is stored when the PCM sees a problem with the vent system during the self test....basically the EVAP system won't release vacum fast enough.
There are many things that can cause this problem, plugged vent valve, restriction in the vent lines, purge solenoid leaking vacum into the EVAP system.

So basically take it to a shop cause I can't fix it?

You will need to find someone with an EVAP tester and a bi-directional scan tool to do the proper diagnosis.
If you want to attempt a repair, you can remove and clean the vent valve...they are know for getting dirt packed in them and stopping up.

Dude, you don't have to bring up a dead thread, you can start your own.
P0410 is a code for a fault in the Secondary Air Injection system.
What year and engine size is your vehicle?
Most times, this code is caused by the Air pump locking up (due to water intrusion) and blowing the maxi-fuse.
You can check the fuse by removing the battery and the fuse is located in a small electrical center between the battery and the inner fender well.
If the fuse is blown, you will need to replace the Air pump and extend the intake hose to an area above the PCM.

I have a 2001 blazer and have a P0410 (SES). In December I had it in the shop and they replaced air pump and check values. Then I had an error code P0442 and they said the gas cap is loose. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Susan
