I was wondering what is the difference between the a4 b5 and the a4 8e.

uuhh....how about a whole different chassis/body/interior!! haha.. to say the least...

A4 B5 vs A4 B6 (platforms - 8E is a chassis code)
Biggest improvements (B6) are:
Stiffer Frame
Slightly different wheel base and width of car
More powerful 3.0 Engine designed by Cosworth with dynamic dampening engine mounts
6sp Tranny (not in all models and MY's)
Premium Leather Seating
Rear Heated Seats (3.0 2002MY option)
Folding Side mirrors
Full electric passenger seats with memory (2002MY)
Almost full CAN Bus electrical architecture
All models are Drive By Wire (early B5's aren't)
No major control arm failures
Rear Airbag systems available
Curtain Airbag systems
Satellite Radio Ready HU's (2004 MY)
The list can go on and on....
Keep in mind the late model B5's started to have some of the electrical/saftey system features too.
