AEM Intake, extra hose???

I swapped the cold air fron my 99 to my 98 the other day. What happened is that there is a hose on the 99 that doesn't have a place to hook up to on the stock air box(From my 98 since I tossed the one for my 99 in the trash before I knew I was getting the other car). I plugged and clamped it, and it seems to be doing fine so far. Also, on the cold air, there is an extension piece where the extra hose on the 99 went. I capped that one. it seems to be fine too. Maybe you guys can help me figure out what the hose is, and weather it's okay to leave plugged like that, and if it's okay to leave that "nipple" capped on the intake.

Just make sure you have one running into your valve cover, or at least have a breather filter on it. You can cap the rest.
