Damn, holding at 8600-9000rpm for nearly 7 minutes straight.
Pretty neat. Best part was when it caught on fire...
''Dude.. get the fire extinguisher!... We got a fire extinguisher??... Dude.. Get the hose!!!"

That ws quite frankly one of the stupidest thing's i've ever seen. I only wish that it was a turbo and that it actaully exploded and a piece of engine went flying into the camera.
Any dumbass could have told you what was going to happen.. i dont see why they wasted a perfectly good car for retardation like that. I hope they dont expect to rebuild that engine, because it's completley toast.
oh yeah... and that proves right there...
ROTARY POWER!

If you listen they said one of the rotor's was all fockerd up so they just toasted it and the car wasn't exactly a gem either.

exactly...
get over it... people do that kinda stuff all the time...
if you have all the fluids in the car, you can sit at redline for a while, even in a piston powered car. it's just a matter of time before it pops. hmm...
i bet you cried when jesse james started shooting the rx7 sandrail on monster garage too... ;)

I didn't think anyone knew about that! :p
No my main problem was there there were still very many useable parts in that engine, but they toasted them. But whatever, its not *my* money that they're wasting. And one dead rotor is hardly a reason to destroy it. :icon16:

what is the problem...the video its not hosted here so its not taking up AF's bandwith....
plus i posted at least 6 videos yesterday(several in COT, one in autox, and one here) and only this one i considered apropriate to post both here and in COT since many people potentially interested hang around only here or in COT so why deprive them?

That motor would have lasted indefinetely if it actaully had fluids running through it like it should have. It wasn't the speed of the engine that was the problem, it's the fact that the waterpump was cavitating to all hell, and the engine was getting oil starved. It only broke because it overheated to the point that the housings had the hell warped out of them.
If there had been coolant flowing through, and proper oiling, then that engine would have stayed at 9000 RPM as long as there was gas in the tank.
So yes, those guys are dumb and ruined a rebuildable engine. And started the car on fire.

"oh my gosh.... look at the pipe!"
hhmmm, rev a motor to 9grand for minutes and are suprised at glowing pipes.... i think we're dealing with america's best & brightest here.

There are a ton of rebuildable rotaries out there for dirt cheap.
Quit crying.
Hell, there are contests for that at different shows. You go to a VW show, and there will often be a contest to see who can guess the closest time for an air cooled VW engine to blow with no fluids. I've seen Chevy V8s run the same way in cars at musclecar shows. Nothing is irreplaceable.
