ok so here goes the story........im commin home from my friends house, and im goin back to school. i see a car in the middle of the lane with what appears to be a flat tire. a man is signaling for me to pull over, so i do. the man turns off his lights an comes up to my car. as he comes closer i notice hes a black man and he has a lot of things in his hands. i ask him if he wants to call anybody with my phone. he says no and that he jus needs a ride to the halfway house where he lives which was in hartford, the complete opposite direction which he was goin. corey and JD know what im talkin about.( i was goin to Central) so ne ways i ask if he wants to move the car to the side and he says no. so i tell him to go put his hazards on so ppl can see his car. as soon as her starts walkin back i speed off and dont stop till i get to the parking garage. there was no way i was givin a black guy with something concealed in his hands a ride back to a place where druggies go to basically detox. i hope he doesnt remember my car and steal it
that was pretty scary. it all happened about 5 mins ago.
anyone else have an experience like this where they went with their instincs over being a good citizen??

Ok, let me interject here for a moment:
SkylinesKillAll: I'm black, and realistically, I have to agree with ya on this! Although you gotta admit the underlying tone of your post may rub some people a bit raw and may be construed as being racist, I think it's pretty understandable that you're only looking out for your safety. That guy could've had ANYTHING in his hands, from a candy bar, to a snub-nosed .38!
I think maybe (and bear in mind, folks, that this is just MY $0.02 worth...) you should've put in there that your comments weren't meant to be racist. Heck, I saw this big, scary black guy and... Whoa!! WTF, I'm looking in the mirror. D'oh!!:D
Moppie: All I gotta say dude is... :hehehe: :hehehe:

I have had a guy on MAX (Portland's transportation system) ask me if the seat next to me was taken once. Something didn't sit right with me about the incident and I noticed that his hand was in his pocket, and was curled around what looked to be a switchblade. Now, whether or not it was for sure, and or whether he intended to do anything, I told him that the seat was taken. I quickly got off at the next station to wait for the next train to come through. So, yes Skyline..I do know what you're talking about.

Man crap like that can scare the hell out of you.
I remember back in 82 when I took an Amtrak from Chicago to Detroit to visit my father. I was walking in Union Station and some scruffy black guy and white guy came up to me asking me if I had a couple of bucks I could spare. Hell I was only 16 at the time and said no man I am just passing through.
I walked away but they followed me all over the station until I found a cop. They then turned around and walked away really fast but I spoke to the cop quickly of what was happening.
The cop took off after them and low and behold they had like 25 wallets on them along with a gun each and some other hand weapons!
There were cops all over the place and one mentioned to me I would of or could have been their next victim had I not walked up to the first cop and talked to him.
This still sticks in my head to this day some 20 years later, on how lucky was I not to get done.
All I can say is be careful and trust your instincts. if something is not right or does not feel right then walk away fast.

Yes. I was walking out of the mall with my friends and we were about to head to my car when some guy comes up to us asking if we could give him a ride. The guy has his hand in his jacket pocket and I can't quite tell what else is in there. He is telling me that he needs to get to this resturant that his sister works at. I don't trust this guy as far as I can throw him so I tell I locked my keys in my car so were aren't going anywhere for now. He then says well I can get them out for you, mind you I know how to jimmy a car as well but coming from this guy it even gives me the creeps even more. Instead I tell him that the cops are coming to get my keys out so we would just wait for them to get here. He quickly say ok and walks off. So we all head off to my car when I hear this car alarm go off, we just keep walking. I then see this car drive by and I could swear that it was him behind the drivers seat!
I figure that he had a gun and was going to carjack me. Little fucker, I took down the plate and went back in the mall and reported it as bing stolen to the police.

More good thinking. Most thugs and thieves aren't to bright. Using your head like this and as others have described sure go a long way in protecting yourself. The old antage of going with your gut instinct will save your ass more times then not.
