GSR owners: Automatic SE-Rs are slow.

I beat my friend on a 10 MPH rolling start until about 80. He still thinks he won and it was "unfair" because he claims I launched before him. On a second run, I was behind until 70 MPH (I'll explain) and by the time I put it into third, I was puilling on him like hell, but he still claims he won that race too because I slowed down after I passed him...it was fuckin obvious who won
Now, the reason I was behind him until 70 MPH was because I have bad axles and I did a shitty launch on purpose trying to preserve my axles. And I have crappy tires, crappier than stock. And I was carrying a 140 LBs passenger. So, with good stock axles, normal tires, and no passenger...a GSR can kill an automatic SE-R.
After he starting braggin that he beat me, I challenged him to another race, where I would launch like a mad-mad and smoke the living shit out of him...but he did'nt wanna race...wuss.
:banghead:

My friend had a 2001 SE-R auto.
For an automatic it pulled pretty good.
But I still dont know why you would want one in AUTO.
It was a nice car, until he rolled over 3 times in it going around a curve at 125 mph racing an Maxima.
Hes OK though so thats good.

are you talking b13, b14, b15 or the spec v?
either way all auto se-rs are fairly slow.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they never made B13, or B14 SE-R's with autos. Also, all SpecVs are six-speeds.
That only leaves the B15 SE-R, non-Spec.

They make auto SE-Rs but but not SPEC-V, those are 6-speed and I think they come with an LSD. The one I beat had 170 HP, 175 tq and it was auto. He baught an auto because he hardly knows how to drive stick...and the car cost $7,800.
It was a B15, the newest body.

the new se-r's are only like 170 hp, so i wouldnt think itd stand a chance against a gsr right? especially if its an auto, but it has a lot more torque so thats why u guys say its tough to beat? also i read that the se-r loses way more from flywheel to wheel than an average car

I raced a spec v at a 10MPH rolling start and it was pretty close. I beat him by like half a car length, but he had a bad shift into second, so if all went well i think we would have been dead even. BTW we raced until about 100MPH

i don't see ur arguement?
the gsr comes w/ only 170hp and a lot less torque, therefore it IS a close race. the auto tranny simply gave the gsr the extra advantage that he needed.
and ur numbers are off. dumped91hatch had the correct numbers for the model that he raced against. it would have been a 4 speed electronically controlled auto transmission w/ those power numbers and it weighs in around 100 lbs more than the gsr.
once again, it SHOULD be a good race (much better tho w/ a 5 sp in the se-r.)

Good point, but I still smoked him with a 140 LBS passenger. :icon16:
He ran a best time of 16.1 at the track (altitude corrected).

my angle was that the se-r is an auto, and that they lose more power from the flywheel to wheel than other cars. ive read that the new se-r's were a big disappointment

no, they made autos in every year the sr20de was offered (nx2000, g20 and se-r)
i've been in a specv and didn't like it at all, it pulled nice in the low rpms (but it's a 2.5!) but didn't feel as strong as my na'd sr20 did. but that was a lighter car with lsd.
according to some VERY intelligent nissan gurus that have gotten a good look at the internals, the qr25de engine is pure shit
and i love nissan.....
i'd take the sr20de over the qr25de any day

Yes, but the NX and the G20 aren't SE-R's, and that's what we're talking about.
I'm positive that the B13 SE-Rs never had automatics, but I am not too sure about B14 200SX SE-Rs, though, although I'd swear they never made those in auto, either.

NOPE
sorry man
all se-rs were available in auto
i used to work at a dealership and i've seen them with my very own eyes
in fact i've worked on a couple
and if you re-read my statement i said (nx2000, g20 AND SE-r)

edited- actually after further thought the b13 are available in an auto but only the 93 model after that ALL se-rs had the option

With all the researching I have done on B13 SE-Rs, I have yet to run into anything remotely mentioning automatics...until now. I also said I wasn't too sure about B14 SE-Rs, which in fact, were offered with automatics, like you said.
Did some researching. Here's what I found:
First-off, my car is a 1992 model, so I've never really had reason to look-up 1993+ SE-Rs, except in comparison.
Second, you were right, and wrong with your statement: "they made autos in every year the sr20de was offered (nx2000, g20 and se-r)"
You were right about the NX2000, and the G20, both SR20 cars. The SE-R, on the other hand, was never offered with an auto in 1991 and 1992.
In 1993, they made the auto an option for the SE-R. Seeing that SE-Rs of that generation (B13), consisted of only about 3% of Sentras produced, and the people who would actually opt for an auto in SE-R was even more minimal, there are so few existing that you would hardly hear about them upon casual research, if at all.
The only way I found this bit of trivia was upon specific search for it.
So, like I said in my first post, "correct me if I'm wrong"...and I was, and you corrected me of my mistake...although you weren't without some of your own ;), which I gladly corrected. You'll also understand why I have never heard of auto B13 SE-Rs. They are never mentioned even here: http://www.se-r.net/about/index.html, even though all the other-gen auto SE-Rs were mentioned.
Personally, I think auto SE-Rs are sacrilegious.

yup
i knew there was an auto b13 cuz i remembered doing brakes on one a long time ago, so i assumed that all b13s were availible in auto but after more investigating realized only the 1993 b13 is.
but yeah your right an auto sr20 is sacriledge but really how many fast AUTO 4-bangers are there.
tons of b14200sx se-r with autos

how about its a drivers race, and ur jus ignorant to say one is by far faster.
especially considering both run around a 15.2 stock (tlaking about the early 90's se-r's which are faster than the newer ones.)
the newer ones are more around 15.3-4

Both run 15.2??? Did you mean GSR's run 15.2? Is that what you meant??? I've seen magazines test them to 15.7 and 15.5 but I'm not sure about 15.3. I know I should'nt believe magazines all the time but I'm not sure about GSR's doin 15.2 stock. I"m not callin you a liar, but if you show me where you found this info, I'd be really happy.
