does cvt work well

I am intrested in a Mini cooper and I was wondering if the cvt works well? Is the manual mode good? Does it run smooth??? Is it expensive to mantain??? :banghead:

I just got my mini cooper few days ago ; I LOVE IT. CVT works great... if ur on "D", then u tap the joystick to the right, it becomes MANUAL. Then u can shift up or shift down.

Maintenance-wise, I think for the first 3 years or 36,000 miles its all taken care of

i have cvt. comes in 3 modes. D for just normal drive, Sprt for sport mode ( higher rpms for quicker power response) and then M/s (manual shift mode) which is the manual mode. I use all three settings alll the time its a total blast specially downshifting cause u feel the engine braking and slows the car down letting u step lighter on the brakes. Also it rev matches for u so no more worries about clutches double clutching and all that jazz. Also, the transmission's computer doesnt let u brake the tranny so u go as hard as u want and u dont have to worry about damaging it. hope u make the a good choice and go with a mini despite w/e transmission u get.
