Ignitor symptoms??

Does anyone know of what the symptoms are if the ignitor goes bad?? I bought a 93 civic with a gsr motor inside. The car is presently giving me starting problems. I am changing the fuel filter and the MR even though it looks good. It seems to get worse if I open the car up on the freeway. The engine shuts down but the gauges still work. When I try to start the car up it cranks but it seems as if there is no gas going to the engine. It seems as if the engine is coughing or it makes, don't know how to describe it, maybe a bogging sound. If I do get it to start I have to worry because the engine has shut down a couple of times right after driving it. If I press the gas it seems as if there is a lag, I hold it down and nothing then I let it go and the rpm rises. It's driving me nuts.....I'm a brokechanic so can someone please give any advice.

Thanks.

I also have a Crane Hi-6 hooked up too. Could it be the cause of my problems? A while back I opened up the distributor cap which was a little corroded on the connections which so I cleaned it up. Anyone know what could be wrong??

I changed the MR and the fuel filter and everything was going fine until today when it gave me problems starting up. I turned the key about 4 times and nothing happened. The lights came on but no cranking, I then waited about 20 sec and it started up fine. I drove for about 30 minutes in stop and go traffic until I got to my destination and jumped out for a few minutes. When I got back the car started up fine until I started moving. It bogged out on me a few times and then it was fine after that. I was wondering if anyone knows what could be going on with my car. It is driving me nuts :banghead: If anyone has any ideas on what the problem could be please feel free to suggest them.
