Ned computer Help ASAP

Well I started getting a shitload of errors and these bluse screens kept on coming up with fatal errors. Also I installed Norton 2000 and it says theres something like 190 plus programs running on my computer when all I have running is Norton System Doctor and Direct CD. It also says theres only 38 meg of ram avialible and I have 128 meg of ram on my system. So I tried installing windows 98 again but it crashed 23% through it on my second attempt. Is there any other options besides reformatting the HD?

I dunno, Microsoft sucks. If Linux or even DOS could run all of the evryday programs like Windows can, I'd get it in a second.

i was having problems with norton utilities 2000, i don't know if there's difference though. i uninstalled that program and i am running fine, i even noticed that my computer is running a lot faster now too. norton and all those other pc hardware/software fix it all-in-one programs suck ass

Yeah, I got rid of all my virus checker stuff altogether. They kept randomly deciding to start scanning the hard drive, crashing my games, and, through a series of blue screens, eventually my whole comp. Always whenever I'm halfway through a 5 hour download, of course. Viruses can go right ahead and screw me...I'm not gonna bother with those virus programs that need constant updating and add 2 minutes to my startup time.

just download from a reliable source and you should be fine. or go out and get a new virus checker, that's what i did.

It's fine and good until you get winCIH, which fries your BIOS, and is quite common among folks who don't have a virus checker. I know. It almost got me cooked.

i've luckily never have had a cih virus, but i've heard the really fukk your machine up.
