no offense to anyone, but my mom used to cut hair and she said when all the Indians came in, they would never wash their hair and their scalps would be extremly gross.
Also, we sold one of our houses to an Indian couple and we had to go back to get something the day they were moving in and it smelled so awful in that house I think my parents just threw away whatever we needed to get.

Yeah, I lived in NZ for 27 years, I think the way Indians were stereotyped there was smelly people, who ate curry a lot :screwy: that was actually the case for a lot of them that I encountered, suprisingly, considering that stereotypes usually work the other way..............

Hmm well i cant tell u about other people but i am clean and i wash my hair every day hence it is nice and soft and for the most part everyone i know is very clean cuz its in our culture that in the morning before we pray we bath.... And there are many different types of currys out there which one are u talking about and no that is not all we eat, but infact indian food has become quite popular where i live and a lot of other areas.... for the house my guess is they had a pooja which is a religious cermony and in most if the time you burn stuff like wood and ghee... if i were you people i would get out more and meet more different types of people that arnt like you... my guess is you do not have exposure to a lot of different cultures so get out and travel.

I'd have to agree... you can't base your opinions of another culture on what someone else told you, or based on your limited interaction with peoples of that culture.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not well travelled, and I haven't had alot of interaction with other cultures, but all the times that I did have the opportunity have taught me to come to my own conclusions, and to have an open mind. Many cultures are said to be "dirty" or "smelly" or whatever (e.g. Mexicans), but it's just prejudiced stereotyping. There's bound to be some smelly, dirty Mexicans, but that's certainly not to say that it's the norm... Just propaganda.

A friend of mine who lives in Montreal is Iranian, and when we talk on the phone, she's always bitching about Jewish people (I guess she has alot of Jewish customers at her work). She assures me that they are all bitter assholes who think that they are better than everyone else. Now, I've never known anyone jewish personally, but I just can't believe that's the case.

Oh well... I don't even know what I'm saying. Stereotypes suck I guess.

But I will say that Indian and middle-eastern women are very beautiful. Just realized that statement is a broad generalization, but at least it's a good stereotype.
