Replacing the belt

There is a long accessory drive belt on the 4 cylinder. Its flat and about 1 to 1.5 inches wide with several ribs on the inside. The only name I can find for this is Accessory drive belt. Does it go by some other name. What needs to be done to replace it?

i believe you are reffering to the serpentine belt. on the ranger that i have, there is a tension pulley under and just to the right of the alternator. there is a square hole on the front of the pulley that you can put a 1/4" drive ratchet in. rotate counter clock wise to let the tension off the belt. once the belt is slack you can easily remove it. a replacement can be purchased for under $15.00 at just about any parts store. when you go to put the new belt on, ive found it is easiest to put the belt around all pulleys except the alternator. then just rotate the tension pulley again and slip the belt on the alternator pulley. release the tension pulley and voila!
