which one? eclipse 03 gst vs 03 mr-s...whcih is better in performance and which would be easier to mod..and what kinda mods can i get for under 1k

Well there is no 03 GST. there is an 03 GTS. That is the V6 model, top of the line.
Mods can vary depedning on what you would like to do to the car and you end goals.

WAIT A MINUTE... mr-s? Is there really an 03 mr-s? I thought they renamed it to mr-2 spyder. And There is no way the mr-2 would kill the GTS. On gas mileage maybe! mr-s is a 1.8L roadster with about 138 hps(on the flywheel), heck i've never seen them race they have to be pretty light but (imho) I still think even a Gs would take em pretty easily... tell me if i'm wrong.

The MR-2 is what we got here stateside. The MR-S is the Jspec model.
In the 1/4, the GTS would take it, but in a road course, the MR-2/MR-S is a monster. The suspension and handling of that little car is phenomenal. Only a GTS with some heavy suspension work could beat that thing.

The MR-S is hot and would decimate th Eclipse but we have the MR-2 which pretty much sucks in comparison. Not to mention the 3rd Gens, if they're not a GTS, they're just another chicks car like the 2nd gens

The setup is basically the lesser engine from a celica, but in the back of the car, with different gear ratios.
My GS is about not too much slower that it, so I think the GT or moreso the GTS would beat it in takeoff, all the way down the quarter. The gearing the the MR-2 is very tight (read: VERY) but shifts are much longer than the eclipse and it has no torque at all (I think its like 120 lb-ft).
BUT i've never been in a car that handled better than the MR-2. It would outhandle my dad's stang GT easily. (but the stang would win everything, because it is so powerful)
If a modder would want to have some fun, pull the weak engine out of an MR-2 and drop in the 180-hp celica motor, then have some fun modding that.

Hey lets have the full spec sheet for the MR-S, anyone got one? maybe the guys in the mr-s forum would have it...
