Oil pump

my 99 stratus engine just went, as it turns out the mechanic tells me that a part conected to the oil pump had a factory defect and broke away thus the oil was not being pumped through the engine, anyone else out there with similar problem. The oil pressure light did come on but within a couple of minutes the engine had baked.

me too! I'm ticked! did you ever try to have Chrysler pay for it?

mine might be doing that too- for some reson it runs very hot and the temp gauge stays at normal

Was your engine the 2.4L or the 2.0L. Was your car making a rattling/ clicking noise prior to the oil pump failing? My 2.4L engine is making a rattling/clacking noise and I am having a very hard time trying to find the cause.
