95GsxRacer or (anyone who knows what they're talking about)
I watched the video of the wrx... 15 psi before you launch just gives me a hard-on. I have a 1g and all I can find is Tmo.com. I have to have an eprom ecu... Is there an easier way to just get the stutterbox launch?

stutterbox is a function of dsmlink, if i'm not mistaken... which is a piggyback ecu that only works on eprom ecu's found in 95 dsm's

For DSMs TMO was the originator. DSMlink also has a stutterbox, but its MAIN use is far more involved than TMO, i.e. timing control, built in fuel control, etc. TMO is a great option for 1G, since EPROM 1g ECUs are failry abundant (well, 91-94 anyway).

You can also use an ignition box like MSDs DIS setup. It has a "2 step" rev control. Hook the trigger up to your clutch switch, and suddenly you have a stutter box ;) Now, you dont get the other TMO goodies like removing fuel cut, etc, but you get an upgraded ignition in the process. I'd rather go TMO. You can get TMO-like chips on ebay from jeff something or other for like 60 bucks, and you can pick up EPROM ECUs for ~200, making it all cheaper than a MSD (~325). Have you checked to see if your 1g has an eprom ECU? TMO has instruction for how to open it up and what to look for. Hope that helps.

And DSMlink is NOT a piggy back. Not even close. Piggy backs work by intercepting one or more signals to the ECU, modifying them, and sending the adjusted signal to the ECU. This works, but does cuase some unwanted side effects. AFC, Emanage, MAFt, and VPC all fall under this category. DSMlink works by changing the code right inside the stock programming. No lying, no side effects. DSMlink is the best thing going in DSM engine managment. The stock programming is VERY good. Personally, I think standalones arent worth it for the added trouble they can cause, especialy for people new to tuning. And like I've said before, Buschur ran 7s on a stock DSM ECU with a TMO chip (VPC/GCC). ;)

I read tmo's explanation. I was wondering if there was a simpler way to see if my car(92) has an eprom. I imagine I would have been told if there was. I have bought, hasn't arrived yet, a data logger. Are there any websites that give good tuning directions for beginers? Thanks for the info!

On the forum site in my sig, my friend Kyle wrote up a tuning guide. Its a sticky in the DSM section. There may also be links to some of the other tuning articles he has written. Good starting point.

The only way to see if your ECU is eprom is to open it. Some people think you can tell by the part # or the stickers on it, but more than a few times people that swore they had EPROM ECUs were dissapointed when they found out the truth ;) I think Todd even mentions that on the TMO site. You arent supposed to send him an ECU until you've opened it up. Just a note about TMO, Todd Day seems to have dissapeared from the face of this planet. SOme poeple say that while no one has gotten a hold of him in the last 2 years, if you send an ECU with cahs, it comes back all modded and ready to go. I wouldnt risk it though ;)
