New guy here! I've seen SEVERAL posts bout the keyless entry on these Tahoe's, must really be an issue? Guess what, I've got a ? bout one also. I searched but couldnt get the right info I needed. I just purchased a 97 tahoe lt 4wd. It came with no fob, but I ordered one and its in today. Dealer says 20 bucks to program it, thats a half tank of gas! Is it possible do program it myself or what. Some seem easy, some u need a scan tool blah, blah... Could I get some 97 specific info please? I searched I swear!! Is it as simple as jumping some pins on the DLC (i think thats what its called) under the dash and holding down the lock and un-lock buttons? Sorry for all the newbie ?'s
Later, Chris

figured it out: jumped 4 and 8 at the DLC and held down the buttons on the fob and it worked in like 2 secs. Pretty simple, all was needed was a paper clip. Dealer wanted 20 bucks to do that???!! I got a bud who is a salesmen at my local dealer (where i bought the truck) to get me the factory programming instructions from one of the books in the service dept.

This is how to do that:
1. Short pin 4 and 8 on the DLC (Data Link Connector) After about 2 second the locks will respond with a cycle (close - open)
2. Press and hold the locjk and unlock button on the first transmitter you want to program, until the locks cycle (about 10 sec)
3. repeat step 2 for each remote (up to 4)
4. remove the short on pin 4 and 8
5. TEST OPERATION
