Hi all!
I have a question. I've just bought Eclipse 2.0 GS DOHC 16V, year 1997. It has an engine number 4G63 and chassis starting with S38. I am from Europe, but it's a US model of car (it was imported from USA). It is very strange that it has this number, because everywhere I read this engine number A588 and chassis starting with D31A.
How is this possible? Number 4G63 is for turbo, but my car is for sure not turbo. If anyone knows, please tell me.
Thank you!

I believe your engine has the same specs as a turbo. I have seen 4g63T listed many times and I assume the 'T' is for turbo. Your engine is not made of materials that are as strong as the turbo engines' materials, but same specs I believe. Hopefully some that knows what they're talking about can hit you with a post.

i would think that since it is the us version of the car it would be the 420a.
