5 Angles Valve Job

hello guys... My father is the owner of a machine shop and has all the necessary equipment to do the machine work on my engine. I wanna know what is a 5 angle valve job??? I wanna do it myself but I need infos on how to do it. If you have any websites to refer me to or anything that could help me, I would be very greatful. I like to work on my car. I don't wanna get the job done by somebody else. Until now, I made all the modifications myself and I'm really proub of my achievements. I'm really meticulous, perfectionist so, evrything on the car is done with a lot of care. The big part of the help I got was on this forum so, I'm counting on you :thumbsup:

Does your father not know? He owns a machine shop right? I would think he would be able to answer that for you.

this is not something i recommend a beginner to attempt, the angles and the cuts need to be precise or you can actually lose power. the angles of the cuts on a 5 angle job should roughly be 18, 36, 54, 72, and 90, but they need to be accurate and have to be tested to work with your car, if your father owns a machine shop, he should definatly have the tools to do the job and do it right.

whtteg... my father owns a machine shop doesn't necessarly means he knows the specific angles of a 5 angles valve job... He's not an Car Enthusiast as I am and the main purpose of his machine shop was meant for general machine work and for hydraulic systems and cylinder. But, as I told you before, he has all the equipments to do any kind of machine work and for this job, it requires a Numeric Control... He's very experienced in his profession... If I can provide him with the necassary informations on the job, he'll do it without any problem...

i dont understand how making cuts into your valve will make your car perform better? Put cuts on the stem part of the valve or the flat top part, I dont get it, can someone explain this in a little more detail? Is it like how some companies put different cuts on the top of there pistons?

the 5 angles create turbulence which makes for a better air fuel mixture. for pistons some companies do it for turbulence as well, and some for compression if i am not mistaken

it very easy to explain cvcc_wagon, you've got the idea but the wrong info.
lets pretend the angle between your valve and the head is exactly 90°, the air/fuel coming into that angle has to travel harder to make that right turn into your combustion chamber, now we start to make small cuts into the valve, in essence rounding off the angle between the head and the valves, a rounder angle will make the air/fuel mixture move more smoothly and faster into the combustion, hence making more power available.
