I'm almost complete with my latest project, a 2001 pontiac Grand Prix. I bought it as a wreck.
I am puzzled about the conflicting information I am seeing about programming the keyless entry for this car. Some posts I see say reprogramming can be done without the scan tool. Is this correct?
I have tried the other procedures (pull the fuse... wait for the chimes etc... with no luck. If there is a procedure out there that works I would appreciate if someone would let me know.
Thanks

Yes Dan , you can program the keyless entry without the use of a Tech II scanner. I just did mine a few weeks ago on my 2000 GTP for my spare remote. Just go to the dealer and see if they can maybe make a printout of the procedure. I used to have the paper , but I think I shitcanned it. The procedure only takes about 5 mins no special tools needed what so ever. I used to work at a dealership in service so If I get around to it soon I'll go back there and make a printout and scan it for ya.

I just got this sheet from the dealer if you send a note to [email protected] I will dig it up and reply with instructions.

check the computer that's in your GP. If it's not the right one, you won't be able to program anything. I was screwed when I got my '01 GP in the fact that it came with the computer that didn't support keyless entry me = :loser:
so I put a Viper system on it instead...and also dropped my insurance rates a little at the same time :)
