$6/quart motor oil

Yep, I just ordered 5 quarts of royal purple motor oil from northernautoparts.com. I figured it was time to treat Maxine to a first-class meal(or at least a first-class total synthetic). :sunglasse Does anyone else, or has anyone else, used this oil before, and if so, do they like it and/or noticed a difference from the 99 cent stuff you can buy in the grocery store?

Well, they claim you can see a gain up to 5% horsepower increase by switching to Synthetic. So, for instance on my Nova motor it'd gain approx 20hp.

But, the correct way to switch to Synthetic oil is:
1 - Drain dynosaur oil out.
2 - Add your synthetic.
3 - Drive around about 100 miles.
4 - Drain the synthetic and whats left of the dynosaur oil.
5 - Add your synthetic again.

Switching over is expensive if you do it right, which you're supposed to. Seeing as the dyno oil and the synthetic don't mix very well thus creating a odd mixture of oils. Not the best.

I've heard only good things about synthetic oil, it's just too damn expensive.

So what you are saying essentially is that I'm gonna use 5 quarts of synthetic for just 100 miles of use?

mm. The only "downside" to synthetics is with rotaries though. There is a huge debate in the rotor community as to whether dinojuice or synthetic is better. They seem to think that synthetis will leave a lot more carbon in the combustion chamber and on the face of the rotor, which leads to problems.

Any knowledge?
