Directional and Hazard Lights not working

HI All. This is a ? for a 1998 VW Beetle. I know that I am posting it on the wrong board but, the VW boards are dead and I know that the Honda boards are always packed with ppl and answers. My problem is with the Directional's and Hazards. The problem came up after I flicked the Turn Signal handle back to it's neutral position while making a left turn. The flick was pretty hard. So.. I was wondering if I, by flicking it, I knocked something loose within the steering wheel. The bulbs are perfectly fine and I think the fuses on the driver's side are fine. However, I am unsure about the Fuses under the hood. I've tried looking for it but came up empty. I am not used to the Beetle as opposed to my 98 Civic. Thanx for looking and any response would be greatly appreciated.

you may have a bad flasher. i think that's what it's called. (turn signal flasher) i'm not sure where it is located in your car, but i think it's inside somewhere under the dash.
