got some bad news today

got my car inspected today, and saw the damage from running over a water pipe cover (kinda like manholes but smaller) that was turned up in the road, my exhaust from the catconv back needs to be replaced, and the same with my gas tank.... its all dented to shit...... someone was telling me to get the city to pay for it? is this true?

na man, you can sue the city for not managing their roads. awhile back I hit a pothole and bent two of my rims and I got two new ones :biggrin:

i'm not sure,, my grandpa is a lawyer and he called the proper person adn instead of going to court they just paid for the rims out of court.

I would say the street department and they will point you to the proper person.

Take pictures of the hole if possible - i got a flat tire from a hole that wasn't marked. Called the city, they connected me to whoever & they just said send the bill - didn't want the pictures. Best thing was they paid for 2, since they felt replacing 1 is unsafe;) That hole was filled the next day. I'm not even sure if it was from the hole, but hey free tires & there was a big ass unmarked hole - some one needs to pay for mistakes.

...then get a written estimate and try using that.

Yep, I paid for the tires then sent the bill to the city hall. Then they sent a check in the mail.A written estimate may work, I would contact the city first.
