lt4 noc sensor in a lt1

I have a 97 z28. Will putting an lt4 noc sensor in my lt1 be a benefit? I have a buddy who has a 95 caprice with an lt1 and putting the lt4 noc sensor in it has benefited his car. Thanks for your responses.

If it benefited the caprice with the same engine, then it will benefit you the same.

It will only benefit your car if you have false knock caused by new mods such as headers.

correct. swapping in the LT4 KM will not hurt your performance, but unless you are experiencing false knock, it will not help either.

The reason this swap is sometimes effective is because the LT4 was a "louder" engine than the LT1 is. Many times, if you have headers, exhaust, RR's, or intake mods on an LT1, the stock module will hear some extra noise and attribute it to knock, even though your engine may not be knocking at all. It will pull timing, and thus kill your performance when it could otherwise be running more advanced timing.

The LT4 module is a bit more efficient because it ignores the light sounds and therefore can usually rule out the false knocks and only retard timing when the engine is really knocking.

I put mine in, and notice a very nice performance boost in the higher RPM's. At the time I had an aftermarket intake and headers on there, and they were causing me to have a lot of false knock. The car would start to die down at about 5,000 rpms, after the KM, it pulled all the way though redline...

I say it's definately worth the money...and it's a 10 minute swap...
