I owne a 2001 Tahoe LT, I was told the dealer offered remote start at the time of purchase that worked off the stock keyless entry remotes. Is it possible to still have this installed thanks for all your help.

Yep. It's from DEI (Directed Electronics Inc.). They supply GM with these things. You can also find them at almost any DEI dealer. The only drawback to them is that they only work as far as your keyless entry. If you went to a fully contained unit from DEI that also did keyless, you would get every bit of 1/4 mile range. Plus, you could get other options like GPS, or have it turn on the rear defrost too.

Just go with a DEI product and you will get better range, your GM transmittors won't do that. I have remote start and I love it.
