Well that ecotec engine is a good engine. You could swap a 350 Chevy. But that would be alot of work. You could wait for a while and get a 2.4l ecotec with vvt. Or you could get a turbo to put on that. www.cavalierconnection.com

I dunno but the 250 is a v8. A lot of fab work. Prolly would cost between 10k - 25k depending on your skill. The 2.4l ecotec is coming out in the summer of 2004.

Saturn Ion Redline and Chevy Cobalt. No you prolly wont have to change the tranny but you will have to swith ECU's. And a buncha other stuff. You would be better of just turboing it or getting a different car.

10psi max on stock block ecotec. Youll blow your engine. No the superchargers avaliable are expensive and are not worth it. What do you mean by stage 2 turbo?

the Cavalier Connection has the whole kit. Not just the turbo. They were getting 10hp per psi. Im not sure on the tq. Email them and i belive the whole set up for 10 psi is 2500 bux including intercooler and stuff. I wouls suggest getting a T3 super 60 or a t3/04 turbo.

I know a small amout about turbos but what is the t3/04 or is it the t3/t4. Do you know how mush psi you can run with that turbo

prolly could run about 20 psi of those turbos. But then you would have to replace engine internals.

One thing you may want to look into, and I've seen it done once or twice, is swapping the 3800series V6 into the Cavalier. These engines, particularly the Pontiac Bonneville/Pontiac Gran Prix/Buick Riviera/Buick Regal supercharged versions, produce suprisingly large amounts of power and torque.
However, ECOT3C has it right when he says you should probably just look into another car. The amount of money you'll be spending to get the performance you're looking at getting out of your Cavalier can get you into some very nice cars.
For instance, $6,000 can get you any one of the following group of cars.
Lotus Europa
Alfa Romeo GTV6
MGB GT (I know this from personal experience)
Triumph GT-6
Porsche 928
Now, honestly, don't those sound a lot more appealing than a Chevy Cavalier?

What would be a good motor swap for an 03 cavalier. I want something with alot of power
Ok, I've been watching this thread for the last day... and I've been without words as what to say...
Why... oh WHY... would you buy a brand NEW car. And immediately want to swap in a better motor?
To me that says you bought the wrong kind of car... Why not save some more money, and finance a better faster car? Did you realise that the money you spent on your Cavalier could of gone towards a Dodge SRT-4?
It's already got a turbo, and it's built to last. Take that and shove it up your pipe. Honestly, the Cavalier is a weak ass car. I'm a Chevy fan, but c'mon the Cavalier is just terrible. 140hp out of a 2.2L motor... that's a joke. And they try to pass it off as a 'sport compact'.
DUDE... how could you of not laughed at the sales person when he tried to pitch to you.
"Oh yes, this thing is a powerhouse... With this car you'll never have to worry about if you have enough power to pass that old lady with the walker going down the middle of parking lot at the grocery store. Yes, you have 140hp at your finger tips.''
Base Cavalier price is $10,000, if you fully load the car up it's $18,900. I don't know which model or what options you chose... but please tell me at least considered the SRT-4... if you didn't then... I just want to kick you square in the berries.
Cause you cannot begin to tell me that by buying a brand new Cavalier and slapping on a turbo, that it will be cheaper than buying a SRT-4. Let alone tell me that the Cavalier will be able to take the added stress of a turbo... and be faster than the SRT-4.
The logic... it escapes me.
My advise, if you really aren't satisfied with the performance of the car as it sits. Even though its only a few months old, trade it in for something that better suits your needs.
Remember what just happened to ECOT3C, a week ago he was all over this forum talking up turboing Cavaliers. He got ka-spanked by an 11 year old car. Now he wants some old car to restore. Maybe he saw the light... the tail lights of a better vehicle maybe? Who knows... follow him and just forget that you ever owned a Cavalier.
I don't mean to sound harsh, but man... don't dig yourself into a finacial hole dumping money into a car that'll always be a step behind the competition. Start off with something a bit better. Then build off of that.
End Rant.

Losing to the sentra has shown me the light. I want to get an older car. The cavalier has lost me. Its slow, too slow. I need something faster and without all of these electrical doodads.

Well let me ask you all how old are you. I am only 17 this is my first car and i am paying for it all alone. Yes i was thinking about the srt but the insurance on that would be to much for me i wouldnt be able to pay it. Yes i know my car is slow thats why i wanted to do mods on it. I also got a good deal on this cav i paid 12000 and it came with 17'' motegi MR7 rims, Z rated tires, razzi body kit, and dual exhaust form the cat back.

I am 17 also this cavalier is my third car. I think that an srt-4 would be perfect for you. Just get the 04 it has an lsd. Also an old muscle car might be good. Nothing new with a v8 your insurance wold be a large amount of money. The srt-4 is a nice car let me tell you. But it has a really low compression. V8 have a reall bad knack for low gas milage. Another thing you should look into. You may just want to keep the cavalier just cuz it will get you around. Just not really fast like a camaro or something of the sort.

Yeah I see what your sayin the insurance on the srt is gonna be alot because of the turbo. I just dont know what to do either get a new car some time soon in the future (2-3 years) or just keep it till it cant go any more. I do want a faster car something with a least 220whp but the insurance is gonna eat me.

22 and been through 3 total motors think I'm done :D
as for the SRT's dont believe insurance company's are raking people for insurance yet they haven't with the grand prix's and the superchargers. I say yet, cause I told my dad about those SRT's He said they keep under rating cars its going to be like the 60's 70's all over again high insurance rates then they are going to cut HP in cars.
Most people can't handle 220+ at the wheels, the reason I say that is they drive stupidily I learned rather young with a 4 cylinder. If I had what I drive now I think I'd honestly be dead :banghead:
It's your car you can deck it out or what not add a turbo switch motors or what not. It's not like it'll be your last car.

well my dad said and I've heard from numerous older people back in the 60's and 70's they were down playing cars (SRT is down played today) and they started knocking people on insurance rates.
I've heard the new SRT's were puttin 240 at the ground, where they claim 215 on the motor. My dad thinks its going to be a repeat of history.. who knows. He keeps up todate with some things, said he saw a thing where more accidents are happening, could be cause of the air bags everyone things they're invincible or the power? insurance company's will let us know sooner or later ;)

and dodge i think has done alot to help save on insurance, 4 cylinder, 4 doors, probably in other ways too, also helping out with all of the factory performance parts, they really did it up with this car

I'm only 20... and if you did get a good deal on the car then thats great. But if you need to go faster, which none of us really need to go faster.... but it sure is fun.
Do it in a car that's either #1 Already fast or #2 Something that is easily modified to go fast, such as a Eclipse/Talon. You'll spend less time and money and be more happy with your investment.
