2005 Camaro

I've just heard that Chevy will build a new Camaro in the year 2005, all I can say is yeehaw. It never should have been taken off of the Chevy line up to begin with, but can you say retro woohoo, looks like it's patterened after the 1969 camaro and that's not a bad thing, being that it was the best Camaro ever.
This is where you can find a picture of the car.

Now I do have a good source on this concept car, I got it form popular hotrodding's web site, I read up on it and they introduced the guy that rendered the concept, and it has been run through the people at GM, or it says on PHR's web site, now the year was a guess on my part admittedly. As always you can check out my web site at Http://hp-car.com :iceslolan

Chavy has said that the SS truck is just a limited time run, it's not a part of the regular line up, whitch indicates that something will replace it soon.

he was refering to the concept car that is called the "ss". not the ss-r that you are talkin about. but i saw something on car and driver tv last weekend that had the lead designer of the ss saying that he doesnt think that gm will produce it, and if they do it wont look or drive anything like it does now

in my oppion, th ss will be like the impala ss of the mid 90's, just to wet our tast buds for something that will never come back.

Actually. from what i have.. and i have Mr Ruess Gm"s performance division director letter backing it up

the SS will be on the Sigma platform.. a beefed up one that can handle the 430 hp... and the Gto wll not be made on the manaro platefom for ever.. its a slap in Gm's faced to import the Gto from Australia..

the Vette aside.. in each division Gm will have a high performance car.. and the SS.. has been worked on for over 3years... logic would suggest you don't work a concept for 3 years.. the Soltice was started at the same time and its coming to market

It wil not be like a big ole lumbering Impalla SS of the 96 era.. but a heavier version of the corvette in alot of ways.. and i think 4 door.. but looks 2 door..
No company works on a concept for 3 years.. this last SS that apeared in the mag is a prproduction prototype.. and they even alludee to the fact that they will be making it..as i said.. remove the Camaro and t/a replace with the SS and Gto.. if you follow through its too logical to deny

i just hope that they make something that keeps the chevy muscle tradition alive...

Frankly I hope you are wrong, I think the Camaro needs a come back, not an Impala or a four door corvette. We're not talking prep here we're talking about good old American muscle that can't be replaced, but it can be redone to bring it up to the time, but of course with a more retro look.

Ok your right

Here's where I founfd the Camaro pics at, PHR's web site, and you were 100% right. http://www.popularhotrodding.com/features/0309phr_5camaro/

But this does suck bad, the camaro is my favorite Muscle car ever, well the 1969 Z/28 any way.

It looks like a cool concept but why do they want to keep a solid rear end??? If they really want this thing to catch on they NEED to beat the AWD turbo cars in the 1/4 mile. And make the 7L engine an option, they have been teasing us with that for too long.

lol, i hate to say this, but the camaro had a great run, and will never be made the correct way again, it will got the way of the Malibu, and the Montie Carlo, and Impala on into the black hole of the front wheel drive life. Left behind are the days of its street prowlness and fast 1/4 times,we will soon long for the days of the big throty V-8's, instead, we will be forced to listen to the whine and asthmatic breathing of some V-6, and we will wonder how Chevy could ever FUCK up a car as great as the Camaro. but thats just my oppion based on all of the nameplates that they have brought back(not included is the tounge teasing 93-96 Impala SS), and still managed to fuck up. may god be on our side, and lets hope that i am wrong, lol  , and that my friends is my :2cents:

Um. Actually GM made the first muscle car if you want to get all technical and shit. The GTO. But if you want to go even deeper, the 300 letter series car was the very first real muscle car.

For one thing

The first muscle car was built by GM in the year 1963, your Mustang wasen't released untill 1964, and it was considered a pony car at the time, and as to Chevy following everyting you do, this is not true either. Chevy is not doing a retro anything, and this is why were all bitching about it, Chevy needs to come to the party and realize that it time to do a new Camaro. Oh and one more thing the GTO is not a retro car, and should not be called GTO, if that's what your yammering about.

ok, i dont want to get technical, but the FIRST muscle car was built in 1955 i belive, its the the first of the Chrysler letter cars, it was a 1955 Chrysler A-300, it had 331+hp, it had a 331 red ram HEMI, and it terroized the nascar circut for 3 years until 1958, when they started to grow wings like every other car on the market.

I can think of a lot of things that thay should do, the question is will they go to may site and print the form and send it to them, and tell them what you would like to see you can get it at http://hp-car.com/camaro.pdf

Actually, the first "real muscle car" was the Shelby Cobra, However it should be noted that the first streetable muscle car was the Corvette. And the first affordable muscle car was the Mustang!

The GTO came out after the Mustang, and although a remarkable car, it was a still a landbarge by all comparison.

Hey Yo

Gm is not copying Ford or anything
1st)Mustang when it came out was a stupid punny car(like someone said)
2)Mustang was brought out to compete against corvette but couldnt take it.
3)The Camaro was built first than the mustang but it came out to market 1 week later than mustang due to some problems with GM CORP

GM copied Ford?! how do you think the first T-bird came to be? chevy built the first vette in '53. Ford made the t-bird in response to it! And don't forget the impala ss of the 90's- Ford built the mercury marauder in the same fashion a few years later. or the fin styling that started with the '55 chevy...or the ground pounding pontiacs like the catalina...

The mustang was not put out to compete with the corvette. If it was it would of come with something more than a inline six when it first came out. It was made to offer american drivers a chance to own a sporty car for a small cost compared to other fast cars of the day. There are all sorts of stories of how dealrships put there first mustang on a lift so everyone could see them and there where sooo many people that they could not get the car off the lift untill the end of the day. I got a blue boos on the history of the mustang from car and driver. Also I thought the first camaro was in 1967 Thats two years later than the mustang

"The date was April 17, 1964. Intermediate sized muscle cars, with big block engines were gradually replacing the fullsized muscle car. Lee Iacocca, Ford's General Manager, had always invisioned a small sports car to be the next hot item in the street wars. Ford decided that instead of improving their lackluster intermediate, they would do the competition one better and introduce a whole new breed of automobile, the pony car. Originally designed as a two seater in the European tradition, Iacocca realized that true success depended on volume sales. Therefore the Ford Mustang was introduced as a 1965 model that was based on the compact Falcon to lower production costs. ..."

http://www.musclecarclub.com/musclecars/ford-mustang/ford-mustang.shtml

The truth to it all was that Ford was getting kicked in the teeth by GM in the midsized Muscle car department and the small sized cars from Europe. Ford decided to try and change the market and they did....but leave it to GM to come late and steal the show.

Back on topic.......

I really like that renderings posted on that other site for a retro Camaro. I would love to see it come back. Also, Hot Rod Magazine has attempted to get GM to remake the Chevelle.....
