About to lower my car

Ok im about to lower my car with my illumina's and tein s-tech springs.

I've only lowered one other car before and it was a 2000 vr6 gti, and it was a bitch, but my friend said my car will be way easier to do.

I plan to do it by myself, how long do you guys think it will take me?

Whats the hardest part about it?

What tools will I need? I know i need a macpherson spring compressor, but like what kind of basic tools? I just want to make sure i have everything before I start the project.

Changing the shocks/springs is easy if no bolts are seized. Should take a couple of hrs. with the right tools - sockets/wrenches - may need an impact to remove to top nut. I can't remember all the sizes you need, look @ a manual/instructions to see what bolts need to be removed before you start, make sure you have the correct size tool, and spray the bolts with penetrating oil - let soak for 24 hrs or more.

The hardest part, I think, is removing the lower shock mount bolts. those are the ones that are usually seized, then time to replace the bushing which is a bitch even with a press.

Don't forget about an alignment and possibly a camber kit.

Keep your shocks on the lowest setting for the first 500 miles or so. Don't keep you shocks on high settings for long periods of time.

Do I have to replace the bushing, or is that only if the bolt is seized?

Only if the bolt is seized or the bushing is worn. The thing that sucks is that the bolt freezes in the inner bushings sleeve, while the outer bushing sleeve is frozen in the control arm. Took me 15 minutes with an air chisel to get one of my fronts out. For the rears, I knew the bushings were shot & 1 was seized so I replaced both rear LCA's - easy way
