Ok Im not much of a drag racer, nothing wrong with it Its just not fun to me or worth the engine ware. I do like to road race though out in the boonies on the s-curves. What kind of things should I look for in suspention. I have a 1990 240sx SE with a 1994 sr20det in it. Im looking at going to about 400Hp but im going all out on suspention. However Im not sure what to do. Any input would help.
This is what I have come up with
1. Jic FLT-2 or Tein RE coil over system?
2.Tein Tie rod and tie rod ends
3.Jic strut tower bar front, and rear?
4.White line front, and rear stabalizers?
Total cost about 3g's not neer as much that will
be in the engine. :)
5.Probably going to go with brimbo brakes but not sure if they make the
4 lug i need. Not sure im im doing the 5 lug convertion from a 300z
Not sure if i want front and rear stabalizers and strut tower bars cause im not sure how it will handle at 400hp with the LSD. If it oversteers i know i wanna reinforce the front more than the back with either thicker strut tower bar/stabalizers (or both). Or just dont put them in the back.
If any of you have experiance with the 240sx with more than 350 hp could you drop me a line to how it handles?

Get this
Front and Rear upper strut bars
Front to Rear Wield on subframe connectors
Aluminum Subframe spacers
Rear upper adjustable A Arm
Front Camber Plates
Upper Pillowball mounts
Coilovers
Whiteline Anti-Roll Bars
300zx brakes will do fine on a 240sx, srswap.com sells the rotors predilled to 4 lugs for you so there is no need for a 5 lug swap.
about 245-265 sized performance tires with a Quaife differential haha.
that would have you handling pretty good

i have no experience with either coilover, but just on reading the descriptions of the two, i would get the JIC. monotube and adjustable ride height independent of the spring perch. they're tight, but too damn expensive for me right now.
for rear strut bar, look at cusco. they have a triangle bar that attaches to their rear bar for added ridigity (<-- is that a word? :p )
what i would eventually like to do with my brakes is upgrade to 300zx 5 lug hubs all around with stock 300zx calipers out back and StopTech front calipers up front on slotted rotors. also, a 300zx brake master cylinder.
i don't have a 350+ hp 240 so no comment from me on that.

I hear JIC has bad customer support, TEINs are jdm coolness haha, I would go with some HKS Hypermax personally, I like them for some reason. Just read around on all the different lines and models from the companies, see which ones have the features for the price you want.
Personally I think a good regular Spring/strut combo like eibachs or Whitelines is good enough with performance strut. They perform better then stock and are cheaper, this leaves you more money to work on the actual chassis of the car, this is where you will find better performance.

stealth, i have a coupe. and as far as the edfc to get it i couldnt get as good of a suspention and i think its cool but for 300 dollars its pointless. The left and right adj are the same so you couldnt balance out your car. And its not that hard to stick a hex driver in a hole and turn it. Ya with that extra 300 dollars i could go with the RA's. But it is realy cool and a good idea. However im going for handaling over everything else, will still making it streetable.
SR20 has the right idea i like that setup as well

If you want balls to the wall suspension, you might as well get adjustable EVERYTHING (control arms, tie rods, etc) and urethane bushings all around. Is it a stock LSD? Probably should upgrade that too for 400hp.

ah...HP doesnt affect handling. :screwy:

are you kidding? HP affects handling? its called power oversteer. don't mock dude.
if the car is street driven, i would think twice about urethane bushings. they are extremly hard on the chassis and don't allow for chassis flex so you suspension components are going to get twisted with every speed bump or hard turn. i'd look into bushing spacers.

thanks for the input, I would go with the tein RS but its alot of money to spend on sumthing i dont realy know how to use anyway. Im sure i can handle hight and one damp adj though. And yes im going with the 300z LSD, but im open for other ideas on what LSD to go with, but i heard the 300z will serfice.
Any one know about adj settings. I about how to induce under and over stear, but what about optimal traction. To hard of a damper setting might induce skidding but to soft will cause to to much wieght transfer to the sides. Anyone have any thoughts on how to adj it?

I can power oversteer in my 240sx STOCK. The amount of HP I have is not going to affect how fast I can corner.

if you can power oversteer with 155hp, think what you could do with 350. it's not going to affect how fast you can corner, but it will affect your throttle position around that corner.
