ok im getting a great deal on a LS swap. all i will need is a alternator, and to replace the piston rings cause it is smoking a lil, i will probally go ahead and do pistons, rings, and rods. and i'll see about a P&P on the head. im putting this into a 90hb, what else could i replace in the motor to make sure it is running 100% i even am considering going with a b16 head to have vtec... what are pros and cons of that, any help would be great.

Goa head and replace the water and oil pumps and anything else that would require you to tear the engine apart again...timing belt and seals. As for the ls/vtec I have no idea I am still A6ing

im going through this same swap right now. i changed the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, oil pan gasket, head gasket, spark plugs, but if i were you i would wait to put the b16 head on. its alot of work to build a good ls/vtec engine. http://www.importreview.com/reviews/lsvtec.html
check this site out. i think if you wanted to a little more hp then maybe you should buy some decent cams before you jump into the ls/vtec setup.

good idea, u have to re do dowel holes, get a new water and oil punp, b16a head, flows good, install oil squirters, run slightly thicker oil, to keep parts good and coated, be expecting about 160-185 in HP, and the Tq is ungodly,

lol, sounds pretty hard and expensive to LSvtec...
i wonder how fast just a built up LS would be?

instead of building up an ls you could always piece together a turbo setup that would be close to the same price as building an ls. and would have a decent amount of power, ls turbo setups are usually at least 200 whp.

i have a stock '91 ls engine with 120K miles on it in a 89 4dr, all i have is a act 4-puck clutch disc and a chipped ls ecu w/8000 redline and it will pull on second gen. b16's. build the ls and beat them all.

not a chance....

from a stock b18 you can expect very high 14's to low 15's. zc in a civic runs 14.9-15.0 with the si trans...ls trans has wider gearing, so i doubt that its faster than a zc on a 1/4 mile run. both have about 140 hp.

any route you go...your options will be limitless witha b series motor...each route has its pro's and con's, but you can make power many different ways. its really a matter of personal preference.

if you wanna do something really cool that not many people consider....look into the stroker kits that eagle has for the b18. I think after the new crank and internals, your displacement is something like 2.3 liters.

crx + 2.3 liters of non-vtec fury = yumm :iceslolan
