97 Jimmy 4WD locking up

Hi all,
I have a 97 Jimmy 4.3 .......Electronic 4WD.....125k.
I went to test out 4WD hi today and when I was making a tight turn either left or right it felt like the differentials were locking up. That is the best way to explain it. Going straight no problem. Also, during the tight turns I had to give it a little more throttle to make it move. I am new to this vehicle so I don't know if it's normal or not. My wife has a 4WD Explorer and I don't recall it making this type of locking . I followed the owners manual as to how to use it. Seems pretty straight foward. Any help, as usual, would be appreciated. :)

James, this is normal what happens is all the wheels are being turned so when you make a sharp turn it puts it in a bind. I woud explain it as when you turn the inside wheel is tring to turn as much as the outside wheel, there for you need to give it more gas because it is binding the inside wheel. Thank you for replying to my question. I spoke to my brother this weekend and he has a 94 Jeep Cherokee Sport and his truck does the same thing.
I really appreciate you relaxing my mind. I thought it had a major problem. We just had a big snow storm here in New Jersey this weekend and I did use the 4WD and it works great in the snow.
