does any one know what the max boost you can run on a stock dohc zc and still be reliable and safe with an safc 450cc injectors and a msd 6a ignition granted that its tunned properly

its not really a question of what kind of injectors/fuel management you are running. The stock dohc zc rods are notoriously fragile, and don't handle boost very well.
I have heard from alot of people that @ 7psi, the motor is still very reliable as a daily driver, and can be pushd to 9psi for track runs. most times that i hear about blowout...happens around 11psi or higher. IMO, you should get a greddy profec b boost controller with the hi/low boost settings and set them at 7/9 psi.
This is the same thing i plan on doing to my zc, but first I am replacing the pistons/rods with stronger aftermarket ones.

I'm running 8 now, I'll be bumping it to 12+ soon, but this is on an A6 with TURBOedit chip and a VAFC.

turboedit rocks. Im good friends with the developer, Jason Parker. He lives by me and i go to his house about once a week to pick up parts and shit. he's a cool ass dude and his program is bad ass.

The ZC rods are stronger than the A6, or are the same thing, I can't remember. Since you are flowing more air, you will make more power (power = tq x rpm, tq = stress) at the same boost level, try 8 er so then move up slowly.

i seen on homemade turbo where a guy ran 6-8 psi on a d16a6 with only 390cc injectors and a b&m fuel regulator for fuel management and he said he never once had a problem at all does this sound like a safe setup for low boost?

theoretically, if the rods wre the same or stronger than an a6, then the outcome would be similar. but as all of us have found at one point, nothing ever goes as planned. maybe someone on this forum has a turbo zc, and they can share their experience.
if youre gona go turbo on the zc, i would recommend being cautious with the boost. its not like parts are very plentiful in this country. that is of course, unless you have money to burn and you dont care if your motor blows up. this is the reason why ive decided to beef up the bottom end before i go turbo.
also, if your gonna go "homemade", i would recommend doing it to a motor that is expendable. that way, when it goes boom (which they usually do), you wont be so pissed.
