How much should a Auto Tranny cost + install into a 95 Del Sol S . My girlfriend needs to get it done because she hit something in the middle of the street( 1 foot mound of Rock / gravel) that was left there and she launched over it and destroyed her tranny.
Her insurance will not pay for it. And the City wont pay either. Shes having to Seu them. (plus she has a video from someone ELSE she knows that same thing happnd to them, except he went home and video taped other people launching over it)
How much should the tranny+install cost? Would it be smarter just to buy a used Tranny? How much is a 95 Del Sol S with 79k miles on it worth Without a tranny. if she was to sell it.

The Del Sol S has the D15 right. You can probably find a D-series auto tranny from anywhere between $100-$200. I got my JDM D15B tranny for $150 from a place that imports motors. For install, you can count on it being around $400. That's what I was quoted at 2 different shops. So i was like hell, I'll do it myself. Well, ended up having my dad's friend doing most of the install with me just helping out and all he wanted was $60 for 3 hours work

hell, I like those numbers. At a local shop she got quoted... get this..
new tranny + Install.. $3,000. :disappoin
To me that doesnt sound right at all. But thats the quote people are throwing at her, Ive seen Remanufactured trannys with 0 miles on them for 775 on ebay. Theres no way in hell instalition for this thing is 2,200 bucks. Ya know? We are pissed.

yah, go to Tranny shops not just an average joe mechanics shop, they will probably give you a better price for install. And call up some local importers and get a quote for a d-series tranny. The only problem with buying a used tranny is you don't know the condition they are in. I would recommend junkyards, but in most cases the trannies aren't in that great of condition compared to the imported ones.
Rebuilding my blown tranny was going to cost around $1500, that's why I went with a used one.
