Clutch

The Acura dealership said that my clutch master and slave cylinder are leaking oil and need to be replaced. I think it’s about $300.00. Where would be the best place to get parts to do this my self, and does anyone know of a website that tells you step by step procedures on how to do this. Or can someone tell me how to do this? Thanks

My clutch slips when I floor sometimes when I hit second. I have a buddy who can easily do it, but I'd rather do it myself. How long do you think it would take to do it myself. I want to put in exedy? anyone have experience? or should I get ACT?

Putting in a clutch is by no means a small DIY task. I have changed many honda clutches and they are all a pain, unless you have a lift etc. I would take it to someone if you even have to ask how long it would take, because chances are that you will run into trouble and then you would have to have the car towed to a shop and that would be extra expense. Also as far as the brand of clutch I have heard great things about ACT and Clutchnet but I have heard mixed opions on the exedy clutchmaster clutches. Good luck.

I have a helms manual coming in. I'll look at that and ask my buddy if he'lll help me out. Its so expensive taking it somewhere... or is it? hmmm... I'd rather have it done right. I think I'll have a mechanic do it. :bricks1:

definately get some help if ur the LEAST bit unsure. like whtteg said, its no simple job (didn't do mine myself.)

i enjoyed my act xt-ss clutch. was great to race w/, yet not too hard for daily driving. have heard good things about exedy as well tho, so prolly couldn't go wrong either way.

Thanks for the input gentlemen. I think I'll go ACT and have it professionally installed.

Hey guys thanks for the reply. I'm not wanting to change the clutch just the clutch master cylender. I've been told by many mechanics that this is a fairly easy procedure and that its located close to the trany. So I was just hoping someone has done this and could point me in the right direction for doing this. If the best thing to do is get a "helm manual" where is the best place to get it. The auto parts store always has chelton books and I think they suck because they are not very explanitory. Thanks guys.

http://www.helminc.com/helm/search_service_owner.asp?Style=&class%5F2=AHA&mscsid=42FRAGK9KTUC8NWB0S58KU4E74L51R15 just fill in the info and there ya go. This is the best manual you can buy it is the same one the dealership uses and sells. Buy this one and not the chiltons or any others from the parts stores and you will thank me when you get it.
