Cougar Vs Expedition

Well to make a short story shorter....I lost and lost badly
Snow blizzard outside ice on the ground I was just sitting in traffic going to polygon's house when on the opposite lane this expedition loses control! I was like "Oh shit this is coming straight for me" so I tried to pull on the shoulder.
Unfortunately I was on ice too and I had to feather the clutch in order not to spin...so I was making some headway but way to slowly but the explorer was going way too fast (around 40)....I never had a chance....when I looked for the lest time I knew I was not going to make it and yelled something like "shiiiitttt....." and braced for impact....at least now I know how is to be hit by an ocean liner....my pour cougar never stood a chance against that mammoth expedition. Btw damage to my cougar is estimated above 6K damage, to the explorer maybe 300 dollars.
And surprise it was driven by a soccer mom with two girls in the back too. And her excuse (this is good): " I though that with 4wd I would have no problems". WTF how hard is to understand that something with the inertia or an ocean liner will take more to stop that a normal car and that 4wd doesn't help you to stop. And especially with your kids in the back how dare you put their lives in danger.:disappoin
Well at least she had insurance...now the question is: will the cougar be totaled? The apraisal will be tomorrow so I’ll find out then
Here is the result:
(sorry for the photo quality but they were taken with my camera phone)
you cannot see here very well but the wheel has about a 20% angle...so i guess the cv joint, strut and who knows what else are busted

after hitting the front the expedition spun again and proceeded to hit the back too

and I just wanted to share this pic of a gorgeous 360 that i took about two weeks ago in vegas when I went to comdex

if the damage os over 75% of the value of the car, then it is totalled. i dont know the year of ur car, but from the looks of it i think ur screwed.
edit: sorry man, i just went to kbb.com and i entered-2000 mercury cougar, private property value, excellent condition, with 75000 miles. (of course most of these were just guesses on the condition of ur car) so.... the total came out to be worth $7300 or so-i think it will be extremely close to being totalled-so close i would bet on it. sorry to tell ya, but i would go to kbb.com to check on everything myself.

Man, we just don't have the best of luck with cars. People keep hitting mine an Neutrino's cars. He's fine and from what I heard the only thing that kept the car from being totaled was the strut tower bar. It kept the strut tower from collapsing so the Cougar will be fixed.
Lucky for Neutrino he is getting away from the retard drivers here in Utah and moving to Vegas where they have Solo 1 autoXing events. :biggrin2:
Now I need to get away from these morons!!!

I was lucky and walked away with no injuries so at least i was lucky there.
The car is true its very close to being totaled. I gonna depend on what the insurance apraiser will say. True the cougars seem to have depreciated rather fast since they stopped making them but mine has very low mileage (37K) and it was in perfect condition.
Oh and it was an expedition not an explorer. I made an error in my post the title is correct. If it woul've been an explorer the damage woud've been much less, but you know soccer moms, if they don't have the biggest posible SUV to get the groceries they are not happy. At least I was lucky and it was not an excursion.
So now i'm considering some another car. So what would you guys recomend. What used sports cars would you guys recomend up to $10K
All i can think of right now its an 2nd gen eclipse gsx. Any suggestion and comments abut a new car would be apreciated.

F****** Large SUVS. You had a nice car and some dumb bitch had to ruin it. I hate driving down the road and seeing some SUV speeding between cars expecting everyone to move over. And usually like u said, they are soccer moms who think they are invincible. I just hope to god i dont get in a collision with an Large SUV in my civics. Anyways, sorry about the accident hope everything works out.
