Just curious what you guys out there run in your powersteering system. My Chilton's manual says something about ATF II (which has been superceded by ATF III) but when checking the dipstick it looks pretty clear to me that it is not reddish-pink.

What have you guys used?

I use STP Power Steering + Stop Leak (as mine starting leaking a while back), and it works (no more leak.) :)

I used a hand-vaccuum pump to siphon out my PS reservoir and that screen/filter had some black sludge in it (gross). I was at work at the time so I took the screen out and hosed it with brake cleaner to dissolve the shiz and rinse it out, it worked well. As for the old fluid is was dirty and definitely not ATF, so I cleaned it out, and filled up with Vavoline Synpower Synthetic Powersteering fluid (clear with a purplish tint) and started it up. Turned the wheel lock to lock about 10 times then shut if off. Topped it off and it workms great, smoother than before. If anyone does not have a hand vaccuum pump, I suggest getting one, they are EXTREMELY handy in cleaning out master cylinders, slave cylinders, etc. It cannot hurt to replace your fluids every few months or so.

Cannot find a vaccuum pump?
