I have a 1999 Chrysler Sebring LXi. The check engine light came on, and I was wondering if I could find the code without going to a dealer or buying the code reader. The last time this happened, I went to the nearest Auto Zone, and they read and reset it for me, but they said that now they are not allowed to do it. I have also been told that to reset it, I can just take off the battery for a few minutes. Any help on a way to read the code, and an alternate way to reset it, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Matt

I haven't tried on a 99 model (I know this doesn't work on newer models) but try turning the key on and off 2 full times then turn it back to the on position the 3rd time and leave it. See if the engine light starts flashing. Count the number of flashes. Each set is double numbers.
1flash then a 3second pause and 2 flashes= code 12
3 flashes then a 3second pause and 3 flashes= code 33. etc....
