Is it safe to use octane booster with nitrous. Some people say not to.

don't waste your money. use good ole' 93 pump gas and order yourself a 5 gal can of VP c-14,or c-16. you will have from $40-$65 in the can + s&h. just mix it in when you know you are going to spray a large shot. VP is clearly better than you run of the mill race gas at the track or gas station. octane booster is a waste of your money. tell me more about your setup and i will tell you more about mixtures.

Hi, I have a 97 civic ex with AEM CAI, STR throttle body, skunk 2 intake manifold, dc headers, apex cat back exhaust, msd ignition wires, coil, and controller, pulley upgrade, denso iridium plugs, accel fuel injectors, AEM fuel rail, regulator, and filter, with new high flow fuel pump. I was wondering if it would be safe to put a NX sigle nozzle EFI system set to a 75 shot. I would then retard the ignition 4 degrees to prevend detonation. NX says that this system is safe to use on a stock motor so I figure that it will be more than safe with the ignition retard and added fuel. All my internals are stock and NX says that it safe with stock internals. It will be used maybe 5 times a year and only for about 4-5 seconds each time.

Sohcd16y8, i havnt heard of any problems running octane booster with nitrous. BUT, in any case, i suggest you dont. octane booster is expensive, and some tend to leave build up. just get better fuel. And BTW, i would try using the nitrous with-out retarding the ignition first. if you have a computer analizer, or have any friend that works at a shop, u can run the car with nitrous, and see the amout of ping you get. then, when you test that, you retard the ignition 4 deg. do the same step over, and see the diffrence in: Power, ping, and most importantly throttle responce times.
