Im looking for some opinions on subs/amps... in combination with each other, which company makes better sub and amps?

jl audio

or

jbl?

thats a pretty hard descision because your comparing a "high" end brand with a "mid-range" brand. jl audio is better, but not for the money, so is i had to choose it would be jl, but if it was actually my money it would be jbl.

many people use the jbl amps to power high watt handleing subs like the brahma which is a very high quality sub, so its a toughy(yeah!,I spelled it right)

I've got a JBL 1200.1 powering my IDMAX and I Love the amp. It never gets hot and always performs without flaw. and Its stable at 2 and 1 ohms

let me explain why im asking....

i have a 96 tahoe, which was "wrapped" by arista records (huge vinyl sticker wrapping the truck) for artists the neptunes, cee lo, and young bloodz (see www.three6oh.com for pictures)

i have been sending proposals out for some audio sponsors, and i got this back from jbl and jl audio:

jl audio will give me a 70% off retail discount, and i have to cover installation...

jbl will cover all equipment (subs, amps, etc) including the harmon kardon navigational receiver here:http://www.hktrafficpro.com/ and i have to cover installation...

just trying to decide which equipment to go with...

The install will probably cost you a lot of money depending on what you want done. I was watching a video of Tim Baillie talking about this install he did in a VW. I think the figure he quoted was like 20 grand. I don't know, I'll have to watch it again.

i wouldnt go to that extreme, just a basic install, subs in boxes... i could do it all myself, eventually do some custom work

Thats Cool. Fiberglass work is easy to do. It looks like it might be overwhelming but its not. I'd say go to www.carsound.com and check out the forums. There is one that is dedicated to fabrication. There are a lot of big names there and I'm sure they could give you some help.

My suggestion is run some proposals by adire audio and Elmentental designs. If you don't get those go with JL

woah! you said you get al of the jbl stuff for free, and you only have to install, definetily go with the jbl, i I think it would be so much more worth it, because you will stil have to pay 30% of the jl stuff, so its like 210$(had to use the calculator on that one) for one 13.5 w& which is good but still fuckin' money.
so my vote is get the best jbl subs they offer and run a couple of them to there amps which are great, maybe better than jl, and their component systems put out great sound, get about two of those.

I really wanted to do my own fibreglass enclosure, and maybe customize my dash with some fibreglass but Im not so sure on how to do all that. I sorta know, but I wanna be sure before getting into anything. Know any good sites to helpe me out? Or would you be able to explain a lil more? Thanx, Peace.
