Another new car decision question!

Hey all, new to the site. While I know a bit about cars, I've always been more into motorcycles. In any case I currently drive a 2000 Trans Am. It's ok, but I realized that I never want to buy another American made car again (at least not until they are remotely close to Japanese standards). At under 40k miles I've already had minor issues with the car, and now that it's warranty has just run up it doesn't put me any more at ease. So this car's pretty fast for the money and other than it being a bit heavy I have no complaints.

I'm looking at new cars though and have always had something going for the BMW M3. I like the look, styling, driving, and everything else...except the price. So hanging at my buddies house the other day he says..."what about the mistubishi evo?" Which brought some questions to mind. Which car is better? And by better I mean...0-60 times, quarter mile, and top speed. I'm not too worried about better around a track because it's not often I can take corners in Chicago at high speeds anyway, but I have gone once or twice in my car and bike to some get togethers to see how I stand up against the regulars. (my best race is beating out a Skyline on my bike and the worst would be when I was eaten alive by a Supra...no idea what he had in there, but his wheels even began spinning at 110 when he really laid into it). Anyway, I'm looking for oppinions. What I hope to do with either car is to give it a bit of a touch up. Some cosmetic work would be nice, but turbo, air filter, and other minor engine work is what I would look to have done. I've taken the M3 for a few rides and it was great, no complaints. The Skyline also comes to mind, but I definately don't have the money to import it. Anyone have oppinions or good comparison web sites I could visit? Thanks for any feedback!
