If you want a fast car and still have $$ left to upgrade, I'd suggest you go with the 1g DSM. The eclipse or talon with the turbo motors. They run for less than $5K, so you'll definately have tons of money left over and to make it the daily-driver/weekend warrior you wanted. Civic Si's are cool, but you'll end up spending most of your money buying the thing and will barely have enough to make it faster. Honda's take a lot of money to make it go fast. Plus the Civic Si is slower than the turbo'd DSM stock to stock. Lastly, you could get the DSM for a lot cheaper. You think about it. You wanted a 11/12 sec daily driver right? Here's my opinion.

If your like me you want speed and a nice looking car. Id suggest 1g DSM but they are ugly as sin.

95+ DSM (I suggest Talon considering they are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper)
A talon TSI AWD (make sure you get the AWD model, FWD turbo cars are no fun)

So recap :

95 Talon TSI AWD = 7,000 (stock, w/ 60k miles)
2g Turbo install kit = 300 (adapter kit to install mitsubishi turbos)
Big 16g Turb = 700

Which ever fuel mods you feel necessary = 500
UICP = 100
Turbo Intake = 100
Filter = 60
BOV =200
MBC= 15
NGK 7s Spark plugs =10
Front Mount Intercooler = 1,000

And wow, you have one frigin fast car for not much money. And the thing is decently reliable. Id guess around a mid-low 13 second car right there. damn.

well since this is in the civic area i am going to suggest you go for a civic

go for a 5th gen. civic (92-95) swap a b18c1 into it, turbo that, get some rods and pistons, and tune with hondata then you can boost around 12-15 psi if not more. if you look in the right places it should not be hard to get this thing in the low to mid 13's

RX7 Twin turbo = Probably could find it, yet he wants a DAILY driver. Rotary is in effecient and unreliable as hell

Supra TT = Good luck even finding one, Base models usually sell for 15k, Good luck on a TT let alone it being within a 300 mile radius.

tell that to my friend with the 1987 turboed RX7. It's his daily because his El Camino with a 454 get's like 9 MPG. The RX7 hasn't had any major problems within the year he's had it.

1G DSM's are also prone to crankwalk, can't forget about that

The 87 RX7s looked like crap. And in the DSM world. the 1gs are NOT by any means "prone" to crank walk. The 2gs Have a higher rate than other Eclipses. Its way over played. Ask around the DSM forum you will only find a few out of the thousands that have even got it. and most people were running many mods.

so you're saying that as time progressed the 4G63 engines got worse??? I've always been told that the 1G DSMs were the ones with the crankwalk problem and that they had pretty much smoothed everything out for the 2G engines. and the 2nd gen RX7's are great looking cars, I guess it's all just a matter of preference.

Im sorry but youve been confused. www.dsmtuners.com look around . 2g are the ones proned. 7 bolt is what the 2gs have and the 1gs have the 6 bolt and early ones had a 4 bolt rear.
