I Have 2000 yukon with 57000 miles, at start up its hard to get it started at any time of the day even after its been running, i some time have to pump the gas,, i should be able to reach in and turn the key and it cranks, then some times it starts ok intermitting,, also wants to die when at a idel, even when truck is warm.
Where can i locate the fuel filter?? thank you for anyhelp, this is my wifes truck and i have a newborn, so i need to fix so it don't break down while she is out....

This happened to me in my previous vehicle. The battery was the problem. I talked with the dealer and the service manager said the battery was going bad. He explained that it was not supplying the proper voltages to the fuel injection computer and the computer was losing it's memory. So when I started the vehicle it would idle very rough or die until the computer was reprogramed. A new battery fixed the problem. Hope this might help.

I would check the fuel pressure regulator for signs of leaking, also cleaning the throttle body with a quality choke/carb cleaner and a sofy tooth brush may help.
There are some updated PCM calibrations for low idle/hard start/stalling available from your dealer.
The fuel filter is located on the inside of the left frame rail under the drivers door.

thanks Both for the reply, I want to go a little deaper of the problem, This is a intermitting problem, the truck runs great, and most times you can go out and it starts up fine and start fine 2 or three times and run and idel great and smooth but then their is that one time you go to crank it and it will not want to catch, after turning it over 2 or three times it cranks and it smothes out, and the truck can be driving fine and when you park to go run in the store if you leave it running could be fine for 5 or 10 min, then it just dies for no reason, can recrank it and is fine but the biggest thing im trying to understand is the cranking problem why sometimes it cranks ok and sometime it has trouble, do you feel i need a battery it only one year old and its a interstate, also to clean the throttle body do i remove the air intake ducking and clean that area. not sure but this thing is a little different from my old 89 fullsize chevy blazer 4x4, where it injects from the top, this one may have its own injectors for each cylinder, not sure, please help, my thank in advance..

i need help with a similar problem. i have a 1990 gmc sub 2500 4 wheel drive. The problem is after i put a new fuel pump in the truck will start after many tries, but wont idle unless i keep my foot on the accelerator and the shut off after about 10-15 seconds. This is the 3rd fuel pump. After the 2nd I found that the ground wire was frayed, so it was replaced. It has a new fuel filter. Fuel is coming out at the throttle body.Replaced the map sensor, throttle position sensor, coolant temp sensor, rebuilt the fuel pressure regulator, if its anywhere near the throttle its been replaced. The only thing I haven't replaced is the injectors. I am wondering could it be a relay at this point. When the engine starts it runs a little rough. It seems to be a electrical problem now, especially after pump number 3. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

gm merlin, where is the fuel pressure regulater? removed the throttle body and it was gummed up a good bit, cleaned up real well, there is a module on the top that i think controls idel not sure, but can that pose a problem for me??

you should see it on the drivers side fuel rail...it is round and there is a vacum line going to it.
Do you have throttle cables or a motor and wires that control the trhottle plate?

i have 2 cable on the left of the body and there is 2 set of wires on the right, the lower set on the driver side is three wires and the set of wires above it goes to this module that when you turn the key on it moves it screwes it self in and out, it basiclly covers up a hole in the throttle body that allows air to flow in, but i don't think its working right not sure. the set of three wires below it are about where the plate is maybe a sensor i did see my check engine light can on when it was unpluged and cleared after a bit when put back on, the engine size is a 5.3 L... i would love to take it to the shop but with it being intermitting i don't know if that could pinpoint it quickly, your help is greatly valued...
thanks

OK, you have a cable controled throttle.
There is a GM tech. bulletin that has a fix for your problem..It involves plugging the small hole in the throttle plate, installing a fixed orfice PCV valve and adjusting the TPS voltage a little higher....also there are some calibration updates for the PCM.
