1998 ES300 stalls really bad

Greetings everyone!

I have a 1998 ES300 and it has since taken on a new personality: it likes to stall and the engine dies immediately after start up.

The problem has started about two weeks ago. The car has 105,000 miles on it. I have brought this car into the dealership for all scheduled and/or routine maintenance ever since it was bought so I am speculating the Lexus service centre has replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter etc.. as needed.

-On to the problem-
The problem occurs immediately after the engine is initially started. It starts up fine (starter sounds great and it turns over properly). However, right after you start it up, the tachometer drops immediately to 0 (zero) RPMs.

I have to rev the engine immediately after I turn the key in order for the engine not to stall. I have brought the car into Lexus but everytime they attempt to start the car the problem does not reveal itself (go figure). My guess is that once I drive the car down the road for a little bit, the problem disappears.

Your problem is teh idle control valve a very common problem o teh 97 -01 es 300 ,camry and oterh 1mz-fe engines.
