:iagree: Yes, building up a d15 is a waste of time and money. Even if you do locate parts you will only see modest power gains. Save up for d16a2, d16z6, b16a1, b18a1, or h22a. More or less anything will have better parts support.

the D15B has a long rod setup that is identical to that of the D15Z1. Your best bet would be to get a 1.6L block and use the P08 SOHC VTEC head on it.

I am assuming you are talking about the D15B VTEC right?

The d15b vtec uses the same pistons as a d16z6, so you get to use anyone you want from a manufacturer that has it for the d16z6, for rods you have to get custom ones made, no problem since it's only like a $100 dollars more. The d15b vtec has the same 137mm rod length as the d16z6 but has the bearing size of any d15, I am going with cp/pauter, pistons/rod setup in my d15b vtec. If you are going to get your block sleeved, you could buy another spare d15b vtec and send that off, and have the builder look at the rods in there, so he has a better understanding of the specs to get some ordered, or you could go to like exospeed and use their d16z6 and just pay the $250 core charge. That would eleviate you having to buy the d15b vtec block, pay for shipping to get it, as well as ship it to the engine builder, if you don't want the down time.

this info is on a bunch of sites honda-tech, d-series.org, honda d series @ezboard.com, and their websites of people who've actually documnented the buildup on their own cars.

It's preety much straight forward. I went over to odb1, so I bought the d15b vtec, an 89 si tranny (I have a 91 dx), p08 ecu, and an odb0->odb1 conversion harness from blown90hatch from honda-tech. I had to add a diagonistic plug since I do not have an si. everything bolted right in, got some energy suspension motor mount inserts for the front and rear and replaced the side stock mounts with new ones. no need for resister box, and you are able to use the same one wire 02 sensor, since the p08 can take the single or 4 wire o2 sensor. But, I'll look for links. http://www.cardomain.com/id/littleg344 http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/368124/3

so how much did the swap cost you, and what do you think of it. did you do any after market work to the motor ?

I like it, especially with the lighter car. All I have is a apex'i rsm to cut out the speed-limiter, and so I can have a tach. I spend $1700 for the swap.
d15b vtec shipped from hmo $660
89 si tranny shipped $180.70
p08 ecu shipped from ebay $62.00
odb0->odb1 w/ vafc labels $180.25
motor mount inserts shipped $24.00
install $560.00
now, I'll just get my jimfab front crossmember, c&r "shorty" radiator, 550cc injectors, drag kit w/ sc61 and 2in->3inch downpipe, 3inch cat and exhaust, and clutchmasters stage5 clutch, and run that way until I get the bottom in build, and zex 53900 cam.

I'm on the verge of lovin' it. It reminds me of my 00si. I'm not pullin all the way to redline, so it's probably my fuel filter. installer had the wrong plugs in the car, so that was hurting it at first. but, now with the si tranny, 80 mph is at 4k rpms.
