Thats nice man those are good times, I bet your at sea level cause I ran my SiR two days ago, supposed to run 15.6 stock at sea level, the best I could hit was 17.33...fucking elevation kills my motor...got beaten by a 1.8 VW jetta turbo which ive taken from a roll. Too damn slow of the line my 1.6. Do you have any future plans for your b18c1?

Wait a minute... 15.2 with a 140hp non vtec engine? Was the track downhill? Also, Civic steelies have always been 14".

They were 13's but before 95. Only on the 88-91 base and dx models.

my 93 dx has 13 steelies. nice times, sounds like your a good driver to get it moving like that.

no....the track was def not down hill it was at maryland international race way in the middle of november...my first run was a 15.5..then i backed it up with a 15.6 ...then i tryed some serious spin off the line and ran a 16.2.....at this point i decided to drop my tire pressure to like 24 lbs and did a very small burn out...and i got a 15.2....
and my car definelty has 13's on it...and thats what it came with...only the hatches(all other models came with 14's like coupes and sedans) from 92-95 could have come with 13's.the si came with 14's.all others came with 13's....alright.well..i dont what to sound pissed i just dont like being called out so bad...i post up the slip...but i gotta figure out how to first....

What else do you have done to it? I mean my type r engine is said to be able to run high 14's, stock, in my hatch. How can an engine with 45 less hp run almost the same?

civicHBsi91

weight....driver ability

also coupe and sedans also came with 13" steelies from 92-95

and where about in maryland are you chuck? i live in glen burnie

If his is a metal shell with an engine I can see 15's, but with 140hp even fantastic driving should put him at low 16's. I'm not calling bs but I wish he would reply with some specifics instead of doing what all the other noobs do, post a few stories then never come back...

i could easily see those numbers.

my buddy is getting a b18b1 swapped into his civic coupe, and i'd expect it to run low 15's.

the b18b's have nice torque curves and they're known to run mid 15's in an integra (w/ either simple bolts, or jus a damned good driver), so in a way lighter hatch, its completely possible. not tryin to choose sides at all, but that number doesn't seem off at all.

my bro in his 91 hatch ran a 15.23 w/ a zc motor w/ only simple mods.

hatches don't take much (4-5th gens atleast) to get up and move. i coule easily see ur car running lower 14's (u have simple bolt's don't u?)

all u gotta do is learn to handle it a bit more.

I have an intake and exhaust. Next Spring I'll be racing with steelies because all I could do on 17's is bounce and spin.

i aint neglectin my post on purpose im just real busy...but any ways...i live in northern va...MIR is one of the only tracks that i know of around...
as for mods on my car...all i have is a 5zigen muffler bolted up to my dx mid pipe...the ls motor is stock...stock intake(i fixed it up so i could use the ls one..),and stock ls ecu...when i ran the 15.2 i launched at about 1500 rpms....and shifted evry gear at 7000 rpms..as for my car i ran it with full interior and spare.....there is a decent difference between 15.2 and mid high 14's ....plus...conditions were good when i ran my car...it was cold outside...alright hopefully that answers some questions

future plans are better exhaust and a header...anyone know whats good and will acually make more power..????and once im out of school....its gonna get rebuilt and turboed...hopefully be a 11-12 second car(fully built bottom end with tons of boost on a t-4...should get me there on slicks..obviosly all of the tuning thats involved..and stronger axles..)...buts that not for a while ...its gonna cost a bunch..

Ricochet

You should get a cold air intake for starters, those usually add the most hp&tq of the bolt ons. Sounds like you're a pretty good driver and 11-12's should come pretty easy once you get the power to work with.

You got your best run doing a burnout launching at 1500 RPMs....???more like 6,000....

PunkAlex

Since his motor is an ls, he doesnt have to worry about hitting the vtec, hence the low rpm launch. (perhaps, maybe im wrong)

Personally i like to think about the future plans when im thinking about mods-headers and cold air intake would both get thrown out w/ a turbo.

Miataracer

I think what he meant was do a burn out first, to warm up the tires... then launch the car at 1,500 rpm. and his motor is not like yours MexSiR... no vtec, not a high rpm motor, much more torque than yours so it may be able to pull off the line ok at 1,500

B16 and B18 are very different

chuckhatch
12-03-2003, 01:53 AM
yea i tryed launching it higher but........i ran a crappy time...i launched a 3500 rpms and burned all of first and some of second and ran a 16....so i kept on trying other lauches..i think with quarter mile racing the launch is all important ...

It's about 95% of it, the other 5% is shifting at redline... not too hard to do though.

However if you're this guy (the red car at the end), you have a little more to worry about.. like actually staying in your lane :)
