Temp Select Switch

When I run the heater and then turn heat off when i turn the Temp switch to cold it continues to ru hot any ideas? Wont get cold

I just took my heat/ac control panel out and reinstalled the connections on the back of the control panel in case they were loose. When I started the truck and tried out the control they all worked like they were supposed to. To get to the heater ac controls in the 2001 Silverrado you have to take off the edge cover that goes around the dash insturments. Lower your steering wheel to its lowest position first. Start on one of the coners of the edge cover by working your finger nails under the edge and pulling straight out from the dash. There will be a little resistance and then the edge cover will start to pop loose. Work your way around the top of the egde cover until you have it loose on the top and sides. Then pulll the egde cover loose around the steering wheel. It all come off in one piece. Now you need a 7MM socket to loosen and take completely out the two screws on the heat/ac control. Now there are two plastic catches on each side of the contol. Press these with your thumb and first finger on both sides of the panel at once and the control will pull straight out. Check the electrical connections on the back to see if they are loose. Reconnect the electrical connections and turn on the truck and try the HVAC controls. If they all work you may have fixed it. If they don't you have the control panel out so you can replace it if that is the problem.

Other related problems which may cause these symptoms: one of several electric motors that open and close doors in the duct work. The motor could be bad and not working or loose electrical connections. Most chevy dealerships parts department will give you a blow up of the HVAC system showing the duct work and the electric motors that open and close the ducts. Hope this helps.
